Classic, artfully plated Italian food in a cozy, white-tablecloth dining room or a leafy courtyard.

Ristorante Gusto – Ihr italienisches Restaurant in Lübeck
Reviews
We arrived in Lübeck late on a freezing winter evening. We were driving from Poland to Sweden and had planned to to stay overnight.
After checking into our hotel, we were starving and cold. We walked into the old town looking for the pizza place we had found online. We thought most other places would be fully booked. The pizza place was! Our hearts sank and our son was beyond hungry and grumpy.
On our way back, we spotted “Ristorante Gusto”. It looked fancy from the outside. Too fancy for walk-ins, we thought. But we went in anyway.
There was one table free in the corner. The waiter smiled and said we could take it. We sat down. Within minutes, everything changed!
The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff spoke perfect English and treated us like family. Our son ordered Tagliatelle with meat sauce. My wife and I got the octopus starter.
When it arrived, we were stunned. The octopus was perfect. We spent two months in Japan this year, and my wife is Japanese. We know good seafood. This was world-class. The wine recommendation was spot-on. Every dish we saw looked incredible. What we tasted was Michelin quality.
This was December 30th. I should have written this review weeks ago, but life got busy. I hope it’s not too late to say thank you. The staff made us feel so welcome, I wanted to hug them all.
This evening meal became the highlight of our entire trip. We went from exhausted and frozen to happy and full. Our son smiled again, we smiled, and the staff smiled with us.
Ristorante Gusto saved our evening and made Lübeck unforgettable. This was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had all year.
If you’re in Lübeck, go to Gusto. You won’t regret it.
Back again a month later the food was still good, but perhaps less. The menu is more extensive than Italian for example had Zander fish as a main. Prepared in a Nordic fashion with sauce and vegetables.
We took the Antipasti and Carpaccio as starters.
For main course we chose the Mixed Fish and Frutti di Mare.
All was good!
However, it felt a bit strange that we didn’t get a homemade limoncello, as is often a traditional Italian gesture after eating at restaurants. Also, the waitress seemed a bit bored at times, but friendly towards the customers when asked for service.
