Amano was an absolutely unforgettable experience. A good friend and I decided to try their dine around menu, and it exceeded every expectation we could have possibly had. Each course was better than the last, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully paired with wines that complemented every dish perfectly.
The ambiance is ideal — warm and inviting for a night out with friends, yet intimate enough for a special date. There was no sense of being rushed at all; we spent about two and a half hours there, and the time somehow flew by.
As incredible as the food was, the service truly set the night apart. Liz was exceptional — genuinely warm, personable, and attentive in a way that’s become rare when dining out. Her presence elevated the entire experience. I’m often underwhelmed by restaurants, but this was a clear exception.
This was a six-out-of-five experience, and I cannot wait to return. If you’re visiting, Amano is absolutely worth your time — and if you’re lucky enough to have Liz as your server, know that she is the cherry on top. This restaurant has a true gem in her.

So many people introduced me to this restaurant already so decided to give it a try. And my experience explained why I hadn’t tried it despite living in Halifax for 7 years.

Foods are acceptable but for the prices I would expected more. Maybe cuz I already eaten at better places?

Our waitress was great she’s 5/5 stars!

I don’t like how the tables being set up. Feels like i’m back in school cafeteria where everyone sitting so close to each other and I could hear their entire conversation…
but wait if the foods were good, I wouldn’t even mind sitting close together or being distracted at others chatting at all!

Overall I prefer dining at other restaurants of their groups.

Excellent Italian restaurant. The food is very good, with authentic flavors and well-prepared dishes. The atmosphere is perfect—pleasant and cozy, ideal for enjoying time with family or friends. They also offer a great variety of drinks to complement the meal. Definitely a place I would recommend and visit again.

We came here to celebrate a birthday, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We ordered fried calamari, grilled shrimp, fettuccine capesante, and spaghetti con polpette—everything was delicious. To top it off, the restaurant treated us to ice cream. It was such a happy birthday!

I’d call this place pretty good.

They do homemade pasta really really well here. The ravioli in particular was excellent! Service was lovely.

I did find the food and the vibe to be lacking in authenticity. Take for example the sad bread (pictured here) which costs 8$ and is served with what tastes like spicy salsa from a jar.. Just not my cup of tea really. My steak was cooked properly but underseasoned.

If you’re craving a glass of wine and a bowl of homemade pasta then a mano is a good choice. All around though, this place gave me a corporate vibe and I think there are better places to eat in Halifax.

Would give 3.5 stars if I could.

We came here twice while in Halifax. The first time was on Thanksgiving. The food and drinks were amazing but the service was a bit lacking. We were left on our own a little too long and there was some clear communication gaps between the servers about our asks. Luckily the tiramisu was out of this world and we had to come back for seconds. Our second trip was amazing. The servers were great and they helped to accomodate one of our party who had an allergy. Would recommend the tiramisu a million times over. The ravioli and the lobster gnocchi received top marks.

Delicious food, so good. Everyone cleared their plates. We were a large party and the food came quick. I had the gnocchi and scarfed it down. It was a little dark and very noisy (because of how popular it was!). Lots of wine selections.

I was there today for lunch and I can confirm that everything was excellent. The linguine with clams was good, just a little too much chilli. The fried calamari was good. The tiramisu was good but it could improve if they used less mascalpone. I will definitely go back.

Outstanding restaurant right on the best stretch of the Halifax waterfront! Pizza is excellent, best that I’ve had in Canada! The wine selection is very good, loved the Italian wines. Amazing service, the best in the city, the servers are really well trained and truly engaged with customers. Highly recommend Amano, try eating at the bar if you’re dining alone.

We came for an early for dinner on a Monday night. Great food. Hot and delicious. Our waiter Nathan, was attentive, friendly and very courteous, just as the rest of the staff. Couldn’t ask for more. Clean men’s bathroom Thank you for an enjoyable dinner on our last night in Halifax. I highly recommend this restaurant.
