Riptide provides peak dfac quality food for an inexpensive price. The lines are always reasonable which is uncommon among my other dining facility experiences.

I ate dinner at about 1700, 1/2 hours after they opened. The staff were all friendly and helpful; that’s the best thing about the defac. The food was not so great. I had Swiss steak, succatash, onion rings, and a roll. It was all room temperature. The flavor was good enough but part of the steak could not be cut and the vegetables were overcooked. There is a large variety of drinks but none of them, except water, were sugar free. The price is right, but I wouldn’t want to have to eat there regularly.

DFAC food is always hit or miss but it misses here often. Grilled chicken consistently dry enough to absorb your saliva, unseasoned veggies, etc. A few times they will pull off something worthwhile like ribs but that’s not common enough. Had stuffed peppers with some nearly raw ground beef inside. Despite this I was ok eating it occasionally as it’s very convenient after the gym upstairs and fairly cheap but recently they’ve been adding a 33% surcharge to everything that takes a bland meal of questionable value at $5-6 to nearly $8-9. If I’m paying that much it must compete quality wise with a real restaurant and it cannot.

Went specifically to “The Hooch” for a promotional event, and the place got busy very quickly. It’s a relatively small area, and it became loud and crowded. The food was good, and the seating comfortable.

doesn’t open when it’s sign clearly says it’s supposed to be open. then when it is open the grill doesn’t work. always out of everything. only serves fruit at breakfast. excuse for not having gatorade is it sells quickly but if this is known why not order more in advance. the lunch is okay because it’s busy and many civilians come but when it goes to dinner it becomes terrible as they don’t care because it’s just low ranking dorm residents. nothing ever goes smooth at this place. i’ve been to many other dfacs and none are this poorly managed. would expect more from a special operations base

My wife is the Senior NCO and she rather eat at the military dinning facilities than eating processed food off base. She said the salad bar is amazing and the chicken gordon blue, grilled pork chops and fried chicken delish. She highly recommends eating there for a fraction of the cost vs off base restaurants

Mediocre food with mediocre prices. Some days they have good choices. Other days they don’t. There are certain food items that do stay consistent though. Breakfast is always the same.
