Rip Rap Roadhouse

Social Profile:

Our story starts in 1853 when the barn that houses the bar was built (Lincoln wasn’t President yet). As far as barns go, this one is pretty cool and it’s amazing it has stood this long, even surviving the Great Dayton Flood of 1913. In 2014 after a complete renovation, the place was rechristened the Rip Rap Roadhouse which was founded on the belief that great food and great service at a reasonable price will get people to keep coming back, and hopefully, they’ll tell their friends. “In 2053 our barn will be 200 years old. Everything we do today is to make sure that the Rip Rap Roadhouse is still in business for the bicentennial and that it is viewed as one of the places that make the Miami Valley special to those that live here. Very cool bar. Great food with a very friendly staff. I’d love to visit this place more often and experience a concert or some other event, unfortunately I am not local to the area but I will be visiting to eat again when I’m passing through. I’d recommend the Ribs or Pork Chop ! 5 ✨’s!

Absolutely wonderful service. The ice cream was good and the atmosphere was great. The only downside was price.

I’ve always heard about this place and had to finally try it. The food was great and the service was friendly. My only problem is that there are quite a few delicious sounding options on the 6 I had to make a tough choice. Steak burger this time, Jambalaya or chicken and bacon pasta next time?

I honestly feel bad for the waitress more than anything. For how poorly the kitchen is ran is not her fault. Being the only server running the dinning room can’t be easy. People shouldn’t be screaming at her for what she has no control over. She did the very best she could to handle the whole area herself with a broken foot/ankle/leg. That being said, it’s shouldn’t take 1.5 hours to get food. We put our food order in with our drinks. After the wait we asked them to just take it to go. It almost seemed like every customer knew it was bad how long it was taking, but the management couldn’t figure out how to address it. The food is fine, but not worth the wait. This is the third time we have had to wait over an hour for our food when it is not that busy. The bar patrons seems to get much more attention than the dining side. We won’t be back.

The atmosphere was really cool, I ordered a side salad and pretzel bites, nothing bad to say, but it was nothing special.

Took my wife and daughters here fir the first time on 7/6. It wasn’t a good experience and I don’t see us going back. Service was fine; didn’t care for the fact that the place was so dark that I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. As for the food … I ordered the Nashville chicken tenders and, after, taking my fist bite, it was obvious that whoever developed the recipe for them has never tasted Nashville hot chicken and hasn’t the slightest clue what it’s supposed to taste like. There was virtually no heat _ the seasoning blend was a weird mix of overly salty and slightly sweet. I didn’t taste a hint of Cayenne pepper, which is supposed to be the primary spice in Nashville hot chicken. It wasn’t served with dill pickle chips, either, as Nashville chicken traditionally is. KFC did a better version of Nashville chicken than this place. The tenders were huge, though. If only they’d tasted good. My wife ordered a pizza that was average at best. Our check for the four of us came to more than $60 with tip. Way too much to pay for food that didn’t even rise to the level of mediocrity.

Had heard good things for years and finally made it in to try it out. Everyone in our party was disappointed with their meal. Pizza crust tasted like cardboard, mac and cheese was good but paying $4 for a two inch little cup of it is insane. Fried shrimp was the best thing we had and it was just okay at best. The restaurant side was almost empty but we still waited a long time to even be greeted at the door because they only had one employee working at the time. The ladies room was dingy and had a broken stall door. They were also out of the first four things we tried to order. The server was nice though, the issues weren’t her fault. I consistently hear how great this place is so I’m wondering if we just caught them on a bad night? Because literally everything was bad. Won’t be returning to find out if that’s the case

Burger and chips were small portion for price, but my friend had the cheese steak and said it was amazing! Draft beer was cold and fresh.

I can’t review the food but can review the service. Came right as brunch was ending (1240). Waiting 10 minutes to get a seat, despite there being open booths. Ordered right away as we were on a 45 (35 after getting a seat) minute time crunch. After placing our order waitress came by about 15-20 minutes later saying they were trying to get all the breakfast orders out then ours would be made. Knowing we had a time limit asked if our food would be out in 5-10 so we could rush to eat. She said not a chance. All in all we would have waited over 45 minutes from time we ordered just for our food. Waitress was nice as could be. Service was slow as could be. I get the turnover of a kitchen but we ordered a burger and chicken fingers. Not 45 minutes worth of cooking. There were a lot of people that sat before us that only had drinks and were still waiting on their food.
