I really wanted to support this new restaurant and gave it two separate chances, but both experiences were disappointing.
A week ago I came in and ordered a burger that was supposed to have grilled onions and Swiss cheese. I was forgotten about and waited around 45 minutes. When the food finally arrived, the burger tasted dry and burnt, as if it had been sitting on the grill the entire time, and it clearly wasn’t prepared the way it was ordered—there was no Swiss cheese whatsoever, just what looked like a burnt pile of mess. I left frustrated but, after seeing so many positive reviews, decided everyone deserves a second chance.
This morning I returned and ordered a bagel with lox, asking specifically for it to be toasted, grilled, and with extra butter. What I received was a bagel with large globs of cold, unmelted butter on top—clearly not grilled as requested. The yellow you see around the lox in the photos I’ve attached is all unmelted butter. When I politely asked if they could melt the butter, the owner, Ricky, became angry, told me I was “difficult,” screamed in my face in front of other customers, and then told me to get out and never come back while refunding my money. I have never been spoken to or humiliated like that in any restaurant.
I worked in the restaurant business for 42 years and would never have treated a guest this way. I’m saddened because I truly wanted this place to succeed, but after the way Ricky handled a simple request, I won’t be returning. Just a warning to others—if you need to complain about your order, don’t expect it to be handled professionally.

The for my sandwich was to have it seasoned with SPK, but it wasn’t…
They were busy, gave them a pass on this and decided to enjoy the sandwich without the SPK.
Kit, enjoyed her sandwich, and mine was Fresh, Delicious and was very Tasty!!!
Will stop by again to try with SPK and will try some of their Lunch Offerings…
Before leaving, decided to try a Toasted Buttered Hard Roll…

Finally a decent bagel shop in our area. Always good selection and great tasting. Impressive spreads with many flavors to choose from. I love the jalapeño bagel with vegetable cream cheese. French toast bagel with walnut cream cheese also really good.

I love my bagels…. and there are plenty around the area.. so I saw Ricky’s Bagel shop and just had to stop and try them…. (mind you it was the end of the day almost closing) Well….. all I have to say is they are my favorite place now…my only place I will go to… the BEST… in my opinion. Usually being later in the day you would think the bagels weren’t as fresh….but I was impressed… like they just came out of the oven. And employee’s are very nice! They carry other things as well…. including Pastosa’s Italian stuff shells,ravioli, (excellent place from up North in Cranford)
So overall I highly recommend Ricky’s top of my list…..new go to place.

Just tried Ricky‘s bagels. Bagel was good. They toasted my bagel. I didn’t ask for it to be toasted and the coffee is the worst.

Didn’t care for the bagels as they are very dense. The ones they sold at this location when it was still a bakery were way better as they were nice and fluffy. To each their own I guess. Staff was ok and the inside is clean as they are brand new, but it’s very tight.

I stopped in early this morning for my favorite bagel, French toast toasted with butter. While there, the premade meals caught my eye. So, with the impending snow tastrophy heading our way, I decided to treat myself to their ‘Sunday Dinner’ penne with sausage & meatball. I’m so glad I did! Fresh, delicious and incredibly reasonably priced! I’m looking forward to my next treat!
