The elderly lady behind the bar needs to retire. She doesn’t like her job, in fact I don’t think she likes people. There’s no table service. I asked about soup that was on their menu (clam chowder and chili) and she replied ” This is a bar honey, we try to keep it that way”. Fair enough. Aside from that, we won money on the video lottery in the back and the food was actually really good. I had the French Dip and I was impressed! I’d eat there again. Cute traditional dive bar, which are my favorite hole in the wall places!

The staff were friendly! We sat at the bar and had a local (Astoria) Freight lager in a can for $3 while we awaited our burgers. The burgers had a half pound patty and were delicious. We each could only finish half, plus some of their yummy fries, and saved the rest for lunch the next day. This is one of the better places to get food from in Rockaway. Recommended!

Excellent customer service, and extremely affordable pricing for their breakfast and lunch menu items. My partner and I split a mushroom swiss burger, and it was a bit too bland for my liking. Fries were extremely overcooked, and their ranch tasted a bit off to me.

0/10 experience. Visited over the holiday weekend and it was horrible!! Walked in with a group of 5 hoping to have a drink and get out of the rain. Before even walking in the door we were met with rude comments from a guy smoking a cigarette outside about how there’s no way we were old enough to be there. Once we walked in a female bartender also made the same disrespectful comments about how we “definitely” weren’t 21. And rudely asked us “where do you think you guys are going!?” Not to mention the customers in the bar began chiming in and laughing alongside the bartender as she continued to make snide comments.
She NEVER took our ID’s but continued to make comments about our ages and appearances as we walked back to the bathroom. Once back from the bathroom we decide that the vibes were really off and made us feel uncomfortable and we did not want to spend money there. So we walked out. As we were walking out the bartender ( who was encouraging the bar customers to join this interaction) made more comments about how we were wasting her time and how we thought we could just walk up in “her” bar and blah.
To add to the uncomfortable situation there were comments made by other customers about our skin color which is never okay but unfortunately expected in rockaway. if you’re visiting from out of town DO NOT DRINK HERE.

Ok- so- I popped in after a long dog walk- . Asked who had the better burger, this place or next door- Owner, Lexie, says, I make fresh patties- . By FAR the best burger I’ve had in years! I normally can’t finish one- I ate the whole damn thing plus onion rings- ( I asked for well done, I’m Irish – we were taught to eat it that way!) I wasn’t a fan of the blue cheese dressing I chose for dip sauce, that’s just me. DELICIOUS burger, great service, affordable cocktails. Came back on Halloween, by my self, in a costume, because I felt very comfortable here- made new friends. Great locals bar. Clean, Friendly, Lottery , Horse races on the tube!?? You got me!

Rick’s Roadhouse has re-opened! I was here a year ago and it’s greatly improved. Very clean – home town friendly – one of the best burgers I ever had. Margaritas? Excellent. Don’t miss this dive bar. Only opened right now Tuesday – Saturday 3-10pm. Worth the stop
