I really wanted to like this place—it’s an Italian restaurant, and who doesn’t live good pasta and pizza—but this was one of the most off-putting dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. We visited during an off-peak time (quiet mid-afternoon), with three employees working and three playing on their phones. Instead of using the downtime to clean or prep, the latter three were all just sitting together in the booth directly behind me, scrolling on their phones the whole time I was there. It was impossible not to notice, and it set the tone for everything else.
The restaurant itself was visibly filthy and poorly maintained. In the open kitchen (right in full view of the dining area), a pile of empty bread bags were piled high behind a stack of microwaves, creating what looked like a serious fire hazard. The bread service was bizarre and unappetizing: the host literally threw 2 smashed white bags on the table each containing a ripped in half loaf of Italian bread. There was a large plastic vat of olive oil next to an open bowl of dried herbs with no lid or protection at all—both just exposed to the air, dust, and whatever else was floating around….. oh the fruit flies! A plate of the exposed herb matter was also tossed onto the table with the expectation that its purpose was known.
The kitchen itself looked like it hadn’t seen a deep clean in years: grimy surfaces, buildup everywhere, and general neglect that made me question food safety immediately, not to mention an acrid, vomit-like smell coming from it. The bathroom was in the same sorry state—clearly not cleaned regularly, with visible dirt, tons of litter on the floor, and poor maintenance.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t redeem any of this. Everything tasted flat, underseasoned, and poorly executed—I couldn’t shake the hygiene concerns (or the sight of idle staff) long enough to enjoy it, but even setting that aside, it was just abysmal ~ nothing that felt fresh or thoughtfully prepared.
I understand restaurants can have slow periods, but the combination of visible filth, obvious safety issues, and staff completely checked out on their phones instead of addressing any of it points to a deeper lack of care and oversight. This goes beyond an “off night”—it’s concerning for basic health and professionalism standards. I won’t be returning and can’t recommend this place to anyone. If you’re craving Italian, look elsewhere.
The sign about the strict dress code at the host stand was really cute, though, considering the host himself was wearing shorts, tennis shoes, and an athletic shirt. Curious what dress code concerns they’ve experienced to warrant the sign.

What an incredible dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere set the perfect vibe—warm, inviting, and stylish. The service was absolutely on point; every detail was handled with care and professionalism. The food met all expectations: fresh, flavorful, and served just right. Brooklyn truly stood out—friendly, attentive, and made us feel like VIPs . It’s rare to find such a combination of great food, excellent service, and a welcoming environment. We will definitely be back soon and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable meal!

Ate here for my husband’s birthday. He loves Ricatoni’s and I am sure a lot of people would say it’s really good, but it’s not my favorite. This was our second or third time here over the last 6 or 7 years.

Getting parking is really difficult.

I feel like the wait time is always around 10-15 minutes. The waiting area is almost always crowded and inside it is loud. If you are sensory sensitive this is not a fun place. My first time here we had to sit at a little table by the front and it was so crowded I felt claustrophobic. People walking nearly right next to our table.

the menu has lots of options but I didn’t like that almost everything on the pasta side had to have meats added for extra charge. I think only the lasagna and meatballs and chicken alfredo were the only ones that came with meat aside from the one with duck.

The waitress we had today (Heaven) was friendly and outgoing, and did a great job. The food we had was good aside from me nearly choking on that bread with the olive oil and herbs they bring before the meal. I must have got a piece with too much of the herbs. Nobody’s fault but definitely made it unpleasant.

The entire time we had to nearly yell at each other because I am more soft spoken and my husband had been getting over losing his voice. The lighting is dim and while I mostly would like that it seemed a bit too dark for me. We were seated across from where they cook and have a bar, so it was very loud.

Overall, I feel like Ricatoni’s may be a great restaurant for those who enjoy this kind of environment and don’t mind the wait (you can’t get a reservation last I checked). Also of you like Italian and don’t mind the prices to add on meat to pastas, you probably would like it. This is just my honest review from my perspective.

Neat little stop for food while we were at the Alabama Renaissance faire. I’ve never been asked how I wanted my fish cooked before, but I said well done. Maybe I should have went with medium since it was a bit chewy but otherwise it was good. Daughter got a kids pizza. Bit burnt on the edges but the middle was awesome. The wedding soup appetizer was awesome, and the fresh bread with herbs was pretty good.

My husband and I had lunch here today and we had server Abi P. She was Awesome!! The food is Amazing! They start out with bread with a Delicious pesto that you add your own olive oil to it for dipping your bread in. My husband had an Italian sub with fries. The fries were the best fries I’ve ever had!! I had a Caesar salad with pasta alfredo. It was Amazing!! Best part they have tiramisu too so I got a piece to take home. Yum! We’ll be back! Awesome customer service!!!!!

Average Italian food. The best part was the warm bread and oil. The bread was individually wrapped and warm, and you can add the oil to the seasonings.
Not authentic or homemade, but it’s pasta, meatballs, sauce, and a couple of other typical plates, eggplant and veal etc…
Sauce is good, very chunky but it’s good.
Cannoli’s were yummy.
Atmosphere is very much so of a bar place not a nice dinning restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly! I ordered pasta with red sauce and it was $14, ok priced for the food.
Overall, waitstaff and bread were great!

I had a fantastic dining experience at Ricatoni’s in Florence, AL! Our server, Alex, was fabulous—she was attentive, friendly, and truly made our evening special. I ordered the ravioli, which was absolutely delicious, while my partner, Earl, enjoyed the filet florentine that was cooked to perfection.

The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between casual and romantic, making it a great choice for a date night. We also loved the fresh bread served with herb and oil; it was the perfect start to our meal.

Overall, I highly recommend Ricatoni’s for anyone looking for a delightful dining experience. We can’t wait to return!

The food was delicious and the service was great. We’ve eaten here before when we visited Florence. We both ordered the Lasagne Ricatoni. My husband ordered his with melted cheese on top, I didn’t. He thought mine had more sauce than his, so if you prefer more sauce, get it without the melted cheese or request extra sauce. Also the dessert looked delicious, but we were too full to try it.
