Social Profile:

Our Barbecue is traditional Kansas City style, dry-rubbed, smoked “low and slow” and served with over a dozen house made sauces that incorporate different regional flavors. The restaurant has three wood fired smokers that burn imported Missouri Hickory and various local fruit woods including apple, cherry and peach. While Rib Shack is known for its award-winning baby back ribs, we offer a wide variety of other BBQ meats including brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, chicken and spicy tri tip. Ask around for the best barbecue in Boise and you’ll hear Rib Shack. In fact, Rib Shack Barbecue was recently named the best barbecue in Idaho.

Our first time at this restaurant and we LOVED it! The food is amazing here! The vibe is so nice and creative! Brisket was the most amazing thing we’ve ever eaten! Sides were delicious as well! We will definitely be recommending and eating here again and again! Staff was so nice and welcoming! Thank you!

My cousin that lives in Eagle, ID recommended the Rib Shack Barbecue restaurant for an amazing BBQ Dinner!
They did not disappoint. Great customer service! They were very, very friendly and it was a great family dining experience.
The ribs were some of the thickest ever. The brisket was tender and very flavorful.
We had the smashed potatoes and cole slaw as sides. Both were as delicious as they look.
You won’t be disappointed coming here.

TLDR: long wait times, cold food, bad experience all around
I don’t leave bad reviews
I had only heard good things about this place and we’ve been wanting to try it, so we went tonight 12/6 around 5pm. I’ll start with maybe they were under staffed. It was only 3 of us: me, my husband, and 3 year old. We walked in and waited about 20 minutes before being seated even though at the time there were only 3 other families in the restaurant. By the time we were sat there were a few other families behind us in line waiting to be sat.
Then they sat us at a dirty table and it takes about 10 minutes for them to come clean it. Another 15 to take our drink orders, which was weird because 15 minutes after that a different waiter brings us empty cups and leaves them at our table, while other families are being brought drinks directly (a few of them had entered after us). No big deal, we fill our own drinks.
So we’ve been there about an hour, we probably should have left because one of the families that was sitting there when we arrived still hadn’t received their food.
They take our order and then we wait another 30-40 minutes to get our food. We ordered bbq nachos, and a 2 meat combo with tri tip and burnt ends, macaroni and a salad as our sides. The nachos were not even a little warm, and the cheese was all clumped from cooling down and the chips were soggy. The meat was tough and also cold, some of the tri tip was good. Macaroni also cold, and our waiter did not come back until he dropped off the bill.
We were here for over two hours for the worst bbq I’ve had in the valley, hopefully it was just an off night but it was not a good experience and you could tell the families around us were not happy as well. I am okay with bad service and waiting forever as long as the food is good enough to make up for it, but the food was below average at best.
There was a woman employee that was very nice when we walked in and apologized for the wait, but besides that it was a bad experience all around.

Rib Shack saved our Thanksgiving!! Due to a change in plans we decided to order out for Thanksgiving but unfortunately, it was the day of when we decided. We called around to a bunch of places, all of which were either closed or weren’t accepting orders. The lovely family owners of Rib Shack initially told us the same as they were putting together their pre-orders already and we’re closed for their family get together. Shortly after, they called us back and offered to help us with a meal. They put together a spread of meats, sides, cornbread, and even a delicious dessert very quickly and have us a phenomenal price as the icing on the cake. They were kind, generous, and the food was excellent! We will definitely be back for more! Thank you for your kindness and willingness to help our family have a terrific last minute meal!!

Went in today after seeing all their posts on Facebook as we have never been. We were highly disappointed. The service wasn’t great. We asked for sprites and the carbonation just wasn’t there. We asked for a different drink and were offered sprite from the bar machine which still tasted off. Server mentioned he was frustrated because he was working off the clock. We got our food and while the food portions were great – the flavor of it all tasted really all. Think tomato & vinegar – no season. The pulled pork had no flavor. Brisket was decent. Baked beans tasted like you were eating spoonfuls of tomato. Never had a chance to talk to anyone because after we got our food the service just disappeared. We won’t be back unfortunately.

This place is by far the best BBQ we’ve had since living in Idaho. The place is so cool and cozy! Everyone who works there was sweet as can be!! I had brisket & chicken thighs with broccoli salad and coleslaw. Husband had burnt ends & chicken thighs with baked beans & broccoli salad. Everything was DELICIOUS and we absolutely can’t wait to come back!

Pretty legit bbq for Boise. Prices are high, but real bbq takes time and comes at a cost. They no longer have Spare ribs, only babybacks. The ribs are meaty, lightly smoked and tender. They have like 8 different bbq sauces to try. The Memphis one is my fave.

I got the brisket burger with onion rings. Onion rings are very good. The burger was enormous and absolutely delicious. The brisket itself, is just okay. It’s mid.

I also got the pork belly. The flavor was great, but it was so incredibly overcooked that I couldn’t eat it. I don’t think it was even cooked that day. It was dry to the point of no return. The fact that they even served it is astounding to me. Pork belly should be tender and melt in your mouth. This belly was crumbling into dry shards that got jammed in yoir teeth when you chewed it. Just avoid this dish and you should be happy.

$57 ripoff!! Wrapped in aluminum foil and placed in zip locks? I’ve given better leftovers from our family BBQs. This is their idea of valuable service. We don’t recommend it. And when we called to get an explanation of our experience, we were met with “that’s how you warm it up”.

Absolutely *amazing*!! I’m from Texas (so I know bbq, especially brisket and ribs) and that brisket and those ribs were cooked perfectly. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Definitely get the trash can, it’s the most bang for your buck and plenty to feed our 4 adults and 3 kids. The sides were scrumptious, we had Mac and cheese, fries, onion rings, and spicy potato salad. The sauces to go with are so good, *love* the names. The dessert had us in heaven, such a scrumptious bread pudding! The service was lovely, attentive, kind, and friendly. The atmosphere made me feel at home, so much charm and attention to detail. We will definitely be lifetime diners here!
