Antipasta: We began our meal with the Caprese which was wonderful fresh and perfectly drizzled with basaltic and olive oil. Which was paired with two different types of bread for dipping the remaining oil.
Main: We had the seafood linguini with red sauce. This was a massive portion, loaded with a medley of seafood including calamari, clams, muscles, scallops and shrimp. This dish is highly recommended.
In addition we tasted the bacon wrapped veal. Wow was this a punch full of beautiful contrasting flavors. The fatty salt from the bacon hits your tastebuds first. Then you savor the crunchy thin veal meat which provides both a new texture and aromatic to this dish. It’s paired with homemade mashed potato’s and a green that I couldn’t put my finger on. All surrounded by a rich sauce.
Dessert: To finish we relieved the tiramisu, which was delightfully light creamy and moist. There was a raspberry reduction sauce surrounding the cake, which was a delightful twist to this classic. Additionally, we ordered the passionfruit sorbet. We were surprised to get a large serving, and the sorbet was surprisingly sweet the tartness from the fruit did not overpower this survey. I would absolutely order the survey over again and again.
DRINKS: this restaurant has a decent wine menu. Of course they would. It’s an Italian restaurant. You can order bottles of wine or glasses. My group was in the mood for cocktails.
My only critique of this restaurant is that there are no suggested cocktail menus. Our server told us we could order any drink that we would like, and they would make it. We ordered a vodka gimlet, and a Moscow mule. Both drinks were delicious and I have no complaints. Having said that, I would prefer if the restaurant had a list of available cocktails to choose from.
SERVICE: this restaurant features wonderful staff who are career servers. They take great pride in their work and you can tell this crew has been doing this for a while and are great at what they do.
We noticed that there was no one server for our table. The entire weight staff worked as a team and we were able to make requests and orders to any of this staff.
ATMOSPHERE: the dining room room was very clean and sophisticated. The dining room felt elevated without being pretentious. The decor on the wall were simple with extra extravagant chandeliers and sconces as the highlight of the room. There were beautiful photos featuring locations in Italy, as well as Venetian masks displayed on the walls.
This place was perfect for our party of three, but we also saw a large group enjoying a meal as part of their gathering. There are also spaces where you can have private dining for your large party making this restaurant ideal for different party sizes.
This restaurant is only seven months old and is planning to continue to grow and expand their footprint. I am looking forward to returning and having another delicious meal at this Astoria local Italian restaurant.
I also want to point out the incredibly nice staff. My partner has a serious gluten allergy, and they actually made him a new dish free of charge when he realized he accidentally ordered a dish with gluten. He didn’t get sick at all from the new dish they made him!
My only complaint is that they were hosting a private party the night we went, and the music from the party was distractingly loud. The walls were vibrating and you could hear the music pretty clearly from the restaurant which disrupted the ambience a little bit. They did their best to cover it but I would suggest to them to try to avoid having the music too loud in the future.
That being said, all things considered I would definitely come back here and hopefully on a night where there isn’t a private party! This is one of the best Italian spots in Astoria.
Five stars are not enough to rate our experience.
We sincerely thank the entire team, especially Dominic, for the excellent service.
100% recommended
The food was outstanding, baked clams, beef carpaccio, beet salad, soups, cacio e Pepe and steak were all divine. But the service and ambience is what tied everything together. I truly cannot wait to return.
Also!! They have an incredible event space downstairs can cater to all size groups, and a wonderful patio. Can’t wait for the weather to get nice again so we can check it out.
This is the first time I was here
Our group was in the lower level of the restaurant – this place is charming – the music not too loud – the tables spaced apart really well
Everything about this restaurant is “ Elegance” to me
The service was on point – the waitstaff amazing and quick
We had such a great time
The food is amazing
They served appetizers family style with baskets of fresh bread
We had a cheese and prosciutto platter , tomato and mozzarella drizzled with balsamic vinegar
My main choice was Pollo al Limone- Sauté d chicken in a lemon butter sauce with mashed potatoes with Swiss chard
The chicken was the size of my dinner plate – I only wished I had more mashed potatoes because they were so delicious !
We had Tiramisu for dessert
Everything was awesome – hoping my groups next event will be here again !
Our meals usually start off with an Ol’ Fashion and the Espresso Martini, our favorites. For appetizers, you will not go wrong with the tender fired calamari, baked clams and our favorite appetizer, baccala, a special cod spread that you will just love. If you are into trying something new, I highly recommend it. For the main course, our family enjoys the stuffed lobster, crispy branzino and the salmon, the fuzzi and nojki ( Croatian specialty pastas), chicken marsala, tuna and steak. We end the night with coffee and of course, palacinke, crepes filled with jelly or Nutella.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so take a look at some dishes we have had in the past and plan a visit.
Domenic, Marco, and Robin were fantastic hosts – friendly, knowledgeable, and fun to talk to! Their attention to detail and the lengths they go to to make it a great experience is noteworthy.
The food – it was lights out both times!
The first time, we got the calamari and the tortellini in brodo for appetizers, then the gnocchi al pesto and the bolognese for main, with tiramisu and sorbet for dessert. Hard to choose what was the best that evening – if I had to choose, I think the gnocchi won along with the tiramisu!
The second time, we got the prosciutto as a snack and then were tempted into the veal saltimbocca. Both delicious and good portion sizes! Then, somehow we had space in our bellies for dessert – we had carrot cake and a pistachio ricotta cake! The carrot cake was very good, but wow…the pistachio ricotta cake was truly memorable. I will be getting that every time I go there when it is available.
The place is surprisingly spacious – you wouldn’t guess from the storefront, but it is actually huge. The restaurant is very deep, with a floor underground and a beautiful, large backyard with a second bar!
The cocktails and wine were delicious – Marco and Robin served up some excellent Negronis!
We are planning to go back soon and make this one our neighborhood staples!
For sure we will be back, and highly recommend!
