Came to Cape Girardeau for hiking. Found this place after a long day outside, and wow it was just what the doctor ordered. Staff were very welcoming and helped me choose what to order, and they chose great options.
We ordered:
Pastelitos de Maiz (chicken) – so crispy on the outside, and they did NOT skimp on the chicken! It also comes with shredded cabbage; I typically don’t like cabbage, but they shredded it so finely and had this sauce on it, tbh I forgot it was cabbage until I looked at the menu again. (Great way to sneak veggies into your diet!)
Baleada Especial – the tortilla was chewy, and held the dish together well. Between the beans, avocado, eggs, and steak it’s a lot of great flavors and softer textures. I took half home and look forward to enjoying it for breakfast tomorrow.
Pollo con Tajadas – the chicken came piping hot, perfectly cooked, and seasoned really well. This comes with green (underripe) plantains, which they prepare crispy with a little salt, almost like homemade potato chips. Loved them and the sauce that it came with. And again, the finely shaved cabbage carried all the flavor from the sauce.
Platanos Maduros Tajadas – sweet (ripe) plantains were caramelized so nicely on the edges. Delicious.
They absolutely nailed all of the textures in every dish we tried. For anyone nervous about spicy food, rest easy – there’s hot sauce available at the table but nothing we ordered was spicy.
It’s right off a main road, took no time to get there. If you find yourself hungry in Cape Girardeau, pull over and give Reyes a try!

We had lunch here today and both got the pupusa special. It was wonderful! Rich, cheesy and paired with pickled onions and jalapeños and a vinegary slaw. Yum!

The service was nice and the food was incredible!
We had the Pastelitos De Harina (in photo) and the Pastelitos De Maiz. They’re like saucy flavorful empanadas. I really liked the red sauce that soaked into the dough.
The Pollo Con Tajadas fried chicken (also pictured) is seasoned very well and the pickled onions brings a nice pop of flavor to the plantains.
I’ve eaten here as dine in and carry out and the food & service is consistently fantastic.

My family absolutely loved this place. Tried pupusas de loroco with cheese (similar to but not spinach) and chicharron (pork). Love that masa to filling ratio was perfect. Ordered empanadas. Had plantains with condensed milk. Oh my! My husband had a taco type plate. It was huge. Most of all, people we’re very kind and hospitable!

Authentic, handmade Honduran dishes. Atmosphere isn’t what you come here for but the food is genuinely delicious! I had a Baneada Regular – in-house made tortilla with eggs and red bean puree. Very fresh and authentic taste for a very low price. We also had the Hawaiian fajitas. The chicken in it was very plain but the mix of flavors with pineapple, ham ,onions and red peppers was tasty! Chicken Rey with spinach and mushrooms was also great! Order the plantains on the side. So good!

I saw the restaurant’s banner advertisement on the building and decided to eat here on a whim one night with a friend. I am so thankful I did, because the food was incredible! The service is excellent as well, and I feel like you receive excellent quality for the price! I’ve been telling all of my friends about this place, and it’s making its way to become a staple restaurant for my friend group!

Do not miss this hidden gem!! The building is blue, but it is tucked away off the street. The owners said they were working on a sign, and I hope they do get one soon. Such excellent, FRESH food. Great service. The plantains!!!!!! Go and try it. Keep an open mind.
