After a friend sent pics of her order, I immediately placed an order for delivery. I hadn’t heard of Reverend’s BBQ until today.
Everything is / was delicious!!! Enough veggie options for the hubby (see smoked tempeh salad) … not pictured (because it didn’t stand a chance) is the delicious Mac n cheese.
We’ll definitely visit the establishment…. Yum!!!

Good tasty BBQ. We always enjoy our meals here and eat a way too much. The Mac&Cheese was really good. We also enjoyed the brisket and wings.

BBQ was good and a good temp and by that I mean the food had a nice light smokey flavor and not dry. It was hot and didnt have cold spots. For some reason the Brisket has a lot of fat about 50% or so of the brisket slices are of fat. I recommend the ribs, the chopped pork and the chicken as they have a good balance of quality and value. For sides the beans are great! They are very flavorful and and had the typical BBQ meat mixed in to make it extra hearty. The potato salad is refreshing and tasty but also not a super unique recipe and is great with a dash of the mustard sauce!
This place has a great variety of beers, whiskey and NA beverages like sweet tea.

Not good for my tastebuds, I ordered brisket, ribs, fried chicken, potato salad, Mac n cheese and baked beans. The brisket was thick sliced and had way too much fat, the potato salad and Mac were both bland, couldn’t eat them. The fried chicken tasted like it had some sort of warm spice in it like cinnamon and the only doable options were the ribs and the beans. It’s always disappointing spending a lot and throwing almost everything away but I tried it and it’s not my tea.

Met up with old friends here and really enjoyed our meal. We got for happy hour and enjoyed a good deal on individual ribs (versus a half rack). Fall off the bone tender St Louis style with a nice mop sauce. Other entrees included a fried chicken sandwich and a brisket sandwich. Only heard good things about those sandwiches. Ended the meal with key lime pie and banana pudding served in mason jars. Staff friendly and personable and the high backed booth made it easy to catch up with friends. Definitely recommend.

Great BBQ. Brisket, Mac and cheese, fries, and baked beans were my favorites. Everything tasted great though. Had strawberry shortcake for dessert which was also wonderful. Service was slightly slow with minimal contact, but we still left happy.

Hit “The Rev’s” for lunch on 7/26/2025 with three friends. Solid BBQ. I had the Sliced Beef Brisket Plate which our server upgraded from the “lunch” to the “dinner” because I wanted an additional side dish (that’s the difference). The brisket was very good and NOT overcooked. Had a good smoke ring and was juice with just the right amount of fat. The BBQ beans are what I like and were good. Thankfully they don’t add jalapenos to everything like some BBQ places (stop that Podnahs!). The Cole Slaw was about average. A failure in my book is that they don’t offer traditional corn bread with butter and honey. I consider that a BBQ must. But, they do have Griddled Polenta with Creamed Corn & Tasso Ham. This was new and different and very good. It doesn’t pack heat (I can’t do that) and was a bit like corn bread.
The Banana Pudding for desert is excellent. I had to ask for pickles which is no big – they had them. They should serve a slice of bread with their Brisket plate. I’m on the West side so it’s a long travel to Selwood. But, I would do it again. This might be second only to Matt’s BBQ. All four in our party either cleaned their plates or took home boxes and all enjoyed the food.

Delicious Southern-style BBQ!!! Excellent smoked meats with a great choice of fabulous sides (Griddled Polenta is a certified banger!). Everything here is high quality and tastes homemade. Brisket sourced from a local farm is to die for. Good cold beer on tap and a friendly attentive staff has put Reverend’s in my rotation of favorite spots.

I’ve been eating here for 10 years, so it’s about time I give Reverend’s BBQ a good review for all the amazing food they’ve given me over the years. This is the best BBQ I’ve had in Portland, and ‘The Good Reverend Burger’ is one of the best burgers you will ever taste.
‘The Good Reverend Burger’ is like an explosion of delicious tastes and textures every time you take a bite: you get the creaminess of pimento cheese, the sweetness of BBQ, the juiciness of the meat, and the crunch from the crispy fried onions. Whoever came up with this burger is a food genius. The other food is great as well, but this burger is hands-down the best thing on the menu.
