I felt like they sucked me in with the promise of Native American food. Other than fryed Navajo bread, I didn’t see or under stand anything on the menu to be Native American. The food I had was good, I just felt like I was in some kind of Americanized version of what the restaurant should have been.
Waitress was good but had way too many tables so refills didn’t happen and everything was slow. Had to go to the gift shop to pay and that line took 10 or 15 minutes not because the line was long but because of some weird system of recording all the sales on paper. Very strange flow for a restaurant.

The Reuben Heflin Restaurant is located inside the Hampton Inn in Kayenta, AZ. We used Kayenta as a base to explore Monument Valley. My dad and I both enjoyed the Navajo Tacos—they were some of the best I’ve ever had, and I should know, having grown up in New Mexico surrounded by Indian pueblos. The hotel also uses the same space to serve breakfast in the morning. Prices were reasonable, and the service was very good. Note that no alcohol is served in this restaurant and is generally not sold in the area.

This may be the best food between Bluff and Flagstaff. We visit here often. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is well prepared and has reasonable portions. Note, you are within the Navajo reservation, so there are no alcoholic beverages. Don’t be a jerk about it.

Came here after a sunset tour in Monument Valley and this was one of the few places open past 8pm. We made the right choice. Tucked away in the lobby of the Hampton Inn, this restaurant serves delicious traditional Native American food, Mexican food, and American food. We had the green chile stew and grilled salmon and both dishes were flavorful and hearty. Everything was seasoned to perfection. Try the butternut squash soup, it was very soothing after a long day of hiking and sightseeing.

We have dined here at least twice. A few years ago, and now in July 2025. They have the best Navajo Taco, bar none, that I have ever eaten. And I’ve had many self-described Navajo Tacos!
The gift shop next door is excellent, stocked with authentic signed Native American jewelry as well as books, painting, wares. It is a “not to miss” if you like the culture. Super friendly staff in both places.

There aren’t many options in town and this was certainly the best choice. We each ordered an entree – fish and chips and rosemary chicken – and they were good although the portion size on the chicken was small. The service was good. I would rate this 3.5 stars but unable to do so and cannot get to a 4. It is definitely the best option in town other than fast food.

This restaurant is in the hotel tugged away in the small town of Kayenta. We had the tacos, their Saturday night special – chicken fried chicken and burger – burger was slightly dry but tacos and fried chicken were bread pudding and ice-cream was also a good way to end the night. I would recommend this Navajo traditional restaurant to people passing through.

I had a great experience. The waitresses were very kind and accommodating for my take out order.

The Caesar salad was awesome. The dressing was good and they put just the right amount. The croutons tasted so good and I could really taste the garlic in them which is a plus. I ordered the black bean soup on a whim and it was so tasty! I would get a bowl instead of a cup next time.

I took a star because my husband got the bbq chicken pizza and he said it wasn’t that good.

This restaurant stayed open later than other restaurants which was nice.

Mediocre at best. The fry bread taco was pretty, the guac was not home made, the beans out of a can, same for the salsa, possibly the meat was too, and the actual fry bread was tasteless. The presentation is beautiful! We asked for no onions – got them anyway. Great waitstaff.

Food was okay, but we waited over an hour for it to arrive after ordering. The kitchen must have been short staffed between Christmas and New Year’s. Friendly service.
