Staff has a certain attitude. We reserved for the Wednesday buffet and dance show. Both were canceled without receiving an e-mail to warn us. The staff didn’t seem to care about our deception. Food was good and view spectacular. It could easily be a 5 stars but I have a downgrade to 2 due to staff attitude

Ram Luna is one of those places in Costa Rica that goes far beyond just dining — it’s an experience. Located up in the mountains above Aserrí, this restaurant offers some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of San José and the Central Valley. At night, the city lights spread out like a carpet of stars, creating a magical atmosphere that makes the drive up completely worth it.

The food is authentic, flavorful, and varied. Ram Luna serves a mix of traditional Costa Rican cuisine along with international dishes, giving you the chance to enjoy everything from gallo pinto and chicharrones to fine cuts of meat, seafood, and pastas. Portions are generous, presentation is thoughtful, and the flavors are consistently excellent. Their cocktails and wine list complement the meals perfectly, making it ideal for both a romantic dinner and a group gathering.

What makes Ram Luna even more special is its cultural experience. On certain nights, the restaurant hosts live music, marimba shows, and traditional Costa Rican dances — turning dinner into a true celebration of local culture. The warmth of the staff adds to the charm; they are attentive, welcoming, and make you feel at home from the moment you arrive.

The ambiance is rustic yet elegant, with a cozy mountain-lodge feel, large wooden beams, fireplaces, and big windows that let you take in the sweeping views. It’s both family-friendly and romantic, a place where you can bring visitors to showcase the best of Costa Rica or enjoy a memorable evening yourself.

Overall, Ram Luna is more than a restaurant — it’s a destination. With incredible views, delicious food, cultural entertainment, and outstanding hospitality, it’s a must-visit spot in Costa Rica that leaves you with lasting memories.

Loved the place and the food was delicious! We had a great server and they accommodated our requests without any hesitation. Truly wonderful customer service.

We ate at the little Casita they have outside the restaurant and it was very romantic, a cute little space that made our date even more special.

The decorations are spectacular, so eclectic and whimsical, I loved it!

Will definitely return!

Ambiance: Classic setting, full of history, design moments throughout the restaurant. Elegant ambiance is perfect for a romantic outing. Your preference is communicated through whatsapp only. 3 level of table settings. It’s unfortunate that the fog impeded the view most of the night, but it was excellent while it lasted. Especially being that it’s located near the top of the mountain.

Service: The waiter knew english, and he was exceptional, bringing service and laughter throughout the night. His recommendation of the steak was spot on.

Food: delicious, perfectly cooked medium steak, creamy mash potatoes with salad.
The other plate was the fish with shrimp and cheese it was also delicious.

Highly recommended and would definitely come back.

The traditional place to visit in Costa Rica, mainly because the views, are amazing! The place has a lot of history and is well-kept, nice and clean. Some items on the menu like the rice with shrimp, salmon and ceviche of hearts of palm with pejibayes was good. The meat a big disappointment, but I have to say that the server was amazing always trying to make sure everything is perfect.

I had a great time at Ram Luna! We went on a Wednesday to eat on the buffet and see the Costa Rican dances that were performed. I can definitely say the food was very, very tasty and delicious and the dances were beautiful and well-performed. Also, the outside area has a beautiful and romantic atmosphere, and also offers a great view of Costa Rica’s capital, San José. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone seeking for a beautiful, tasty, romantic, professional and delicate experience.

The ambiance was great, the food was amazing. The papas bravas were so good. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the potato and veggie sides paired perfectly. I was a little disappointed with how small the flower pot dessert was, next time I’d try something different. Coffee was great! Staff was incredible!

Wonderful place to have last dinner in San Jose. Staff treated me well and enjoyed food and dance by a local group.
Driving for dinner through traffic on Montain was something challenging but glad I did it.

Located far south of San Jose, Costa Rica and at 12,000 ft from sea level, the place is a well known tourist destination. You’ve got to enjoy aunthentic local food and experience local talents as dancing l, singing ang instrument playing. The place boasts its great view of downtown San Jose and candle-lit dinner qnd not to mention the cold weather. Although pricey, but the experience is all worth it also with the nicest staff.
