I came here to having a nice bowl of soup. Lucky with this nasty blizzard, they were open. I haven’t been here since I was in my 20s so this restaurant looks completely different than before, bringing great memories of my mom and I eating here from the cathedral (church).
We were greeted by our mesera/ waitress name Lissette. She was awesome and on point.
My soup ( sopa de res) was everything I wanted especially during this type of weather.
Service was awesome, as I mentioned before, Lissette made sure we had everything we needed and if we had any questions, she was more than happy to suggest and accomodate anything we wished to eat.
The atmosphere, WOW . I was not expecting for this place to be so warming, colorful, yet CULTURALLY inviting. That was important to me.
I do recommend this place for soups and un pollo a la plancha/ grilled chicken. The chicken was tasty yet HUGE!!!

Our first time here, and we’ll definitely be back! The food was excellent with generous portions, and the service went above and beyond. The place is beautifully decorated. I especially loved the mural and the fun message boards throughout. It wasn’t loud, which made it perfect for great conversation during dinner.
We also picked up some bakery items to go, and they were absolutely delicious. We came on a Saturday night as a group of six and didn’t have to wait long at all. Overall, a fantastic experience!

We stopped by for some warm soup. It was a cold day. The soup came in a large bowl. Comes with rice or tortillas. It was very hearty. Full of meat and good veggies. It was just what I was looking for. My dd enjoyed his chicken soup and fresh juice. The OJ was good too. The tacos were ok but this is not a Mexican restaurant. I think it was the sprinkled Parmesan cheese that threw it off. Our waiter was attentive and took very good care of us. The place is well decorated for night life. Likes of blue light paint. Very unique.

I went to have dinner at Restaurante Salvadoreño Las Canastillas. I usually order the pupusa de chicharrón, but this time I had the steak with white rice, which was cooked well-done and very tasty. My boyfriend ordered the breaded chicken with white rice and beans, and he enjoyed his meal too. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere that makes it a great place for a date it’s not too loud, and there’s a lot of fun, colorful art on the walls that adds to the experience.

I stopped for dining to try some authentic Salvadoran food. The restaurant stands out with its colorful murals and Salvadoran sayings inside and outside, giving it a cultural and welcoming vibe.
Parking is a bit limited, but if you’re lucky you’ll find a spot. When I visited, the place was full always a good sign.
I tried four pupusas: cheese, loroco with cheese, chipilín with cheese, and jalapeño with cheese. The loroco pupusa was my favorite, the cheese was delicious, and the jalapeño had a mild spice that was enjoyable. The chipilín was new for me not my favorite flavor, but I appreciated trying something authentic.
The cashew (Marañón ) drink was refreshing and not too sweet, and I finished with a nice cup of coffee.
The atmosphere was a highlight: soft music in the background makes it perfect for conversation, and on Fridays after 7 PM, they host live shows that bring more energy to the space. Service was excellent the waitress was friendly, attentive, and patient while explaining dishes information of the restaurant.
Overall, a spot I’d recommend for anyone looking for authentic Salvadoran flavors in a cultural and family-friendly setting. I’ll definitely be back to try the soups next time.
