A popular local eatery! We certainly loved the food we ordered especially the quail so tender and flavourful. The sweetbread was nice too! Ordered their wines by glass, which is only by staff recommendations (no menu). Really liked the white wine they suggested but not so on the red, too light for our liking. Overall, a very nice place to go for a meal in Barcelona that is not touristy.

We went to Gresca on a weekday for dinner during the first seating. It was extremely busy, and it felt a bit rushed, as they run two seatings of two hours each. It’s a pity, because the food was excellent, even though some portions were a bit small. They also have an excellent sommelier service — very knowledgeable and professional. We loved the offering, but not so much the rush of the seatings.

I’m well overdue leaving this review as I dined last summer, but I’m planning my next trip to Barcelona, and the first thing I did was make a reservation for Gresca.

I was a solo diner at the counter and it might have been the most heartwarming dining experience of the year for me. The service was dazzlingly efficient while still friendly and warm, each dish more flavoursome than the last, but the bikini sandwich will always hold a special place in my heart. The sommelier led me on a journey through an array of local natural wines, and each one beautifully complemented the dish it accompanied. I could not have felt more welcome and nourished.

Is it expensive for Barcelona? Certainly. But is it worth it? Every penny.

A busy restaurant with amazing food. It took a while to get seated, even with reservation. Some dishes are inspired by Asian / Japanese cuisine. The grilled quail is extremely juicy, absolutely love it! My bf loves the veal brain the most.

I had an overall great experience mostly thanks to the amazing kindness and attention of the service. Such amazing waiters !

The atmosphere is exactly how I expected. Lively due to the open kitchen and the music, but thankfully it is not too loud to still have deep conversations. Definitely a great place for a good diner with an old friend or a date.

On the food side I have a mixed opinion. I was deceived by the tomato bred, I feel like they were not generous enough with the tomato.
We ordered the aubergine with Parmesan cream, the cream was really interesting but the main character of the dish (aubergine) was slightly over grilled and quiet smokey; could have been more delicate in my opinion.

All the other dishes were amazing ! Such a great variety of taste and textures. My personal favourite were the ham and the chicken.

Special mention to the great wine selection.

Price wise, I consider it pricey for Barcelona. Definitely worth a try.
I would come back thanks to the waiters and the atmosphere.

This restaurant was mentioned by the New York Times in their 36 hours in Barcelona piece and it definitely deserves a visit. The dishes were beautifully plated and delicious. If you want to try more plates, the staff can let you know which can be ordered as a half portion. I was lucky enough to be seated at expo part of the kitchen table and got to see the magic happen. The staff was also very helpful in finding/modifying vegetarian dishes. I hope to visit again in the future, but until then, I’ll just keep recommending it!

Gresca is one of those spots that surprises in the best way. The open kitchen immediately sets the tone for an honest, vibrant meal where dishes are meant to be shared and savored. The menu blends classic Catalan flavors with creative small plates that feel both grounded and exciting.

We loved starting with simple but perfect bites like Pan con Tomate, grilled Ostras, and the crispy Anchovy toasts. The Veal Brain with butter and lemon is rich and beautifully balanced, and there are plenty of other standout dishes like glazed eggplant with parmesan cream, grilled quail, and Veal sweetbreads with comté toast. For something heartier, plates like Bacallà al pil-pil with roasted pepper and Hare à la royale bring deep, comforting flavors.

What makes Gresca really memorable is how every plate feels thoughtful but not fussy. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively, perfect for a long dinner with friends. Whether you’re here for shared classics or creative twists, this place delivers an experience that stays with you.

After hearing so much about Gresca, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short. The food was overpriced for what was served, and overall the dishes were quite average.

One of the dishes the guinea fowl was clearly undercooked. When we politely informed the server (a lady with red hair), her response was rude and dismissive. She insisted that this was “the way they cook it,” without any attempt to properly explain, check with the kitchen, or offer a solution.

For a restaurant with this reputation, both the food quality and service were disappointing. Good restaurants should welcome feedback, not brush it off. Sadly, this experience did not live up to the hype, and I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

Finally got a reservation at gresca and it was worth the wait. We were 2 sharing all these amazing plates. The stars of the night were the profiterol de fromatge , the pigeon and the cervell de vedella

Lovely decor, ambiance and open kitchen. Service was good but they definitely forgot two of our vegetables dishes which we had to remind them of and arrived well after everything.

Food is very average and small portions. Definitely not worth the money or hype. A shame as we have been wanting to come here for a long time.

The only dish we actually enjoyed was a the celeriac.
