We found this gem on our way back from arenal volcano national park to La fortuna. Delicious food, the ambience, surroundings and outstanding service. It’s an open floor theme restaurant worth trying. We tried their cheese pizza and fries and it was really tasty!!

We had an early dinner at El Novillo, we wanted to eat meat. I ordered smoked pork ribs and my wife ordered steak. Our meals were well prepared, but both the pork and the steak were very chewy. Good flavor, but tough. We did have pineapple flambe for dessert that was really good.
We really liked this restaurant, the service was excellent and with decent weather there would be a nice view of the volcano. Although we wished our meat was a little better, we’d eat here again.

Not only did we eat, but this restaurant did! After coming back from a long, muddy hike with my parents we were in dire need of a delicious meal that would give us fuel for the rest of the day. When we arrived, we were met with friendly greetings from the staff and a relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful view of Volcan Arenal. I order a quenching tall glass of Piña Colada, and shortly after, our delicious food arrived. I ordered a simple Tomato Pasta, which had rich flavor and left me with leftovers because of the big serving size. A couple other dishes came for the family I was with, and with those dishes came the best stake I had ever had in my life as well as crispy, golden fries. I highly recommend coming to this spot when visiting La Fortuna. Pura Vida!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Restaurante El Novillo del Arenal in Costa Rica, and their tenderloin steak was absolutely amazing. The meat was scrumptious, juicy, and incredibly delicious—the kind of steak that arrives perfectly cooked and remains tender through every single bite.
It was paired with fresh vegetables that added a crisp balance to the the dish, and the tasty mushroom sauce was the perfect complement to the tenderloin.
Each bite truly felt better than the last. If you’re anywhere near Arenal and want a memorable steak experience, this is a must-try. Highly recommended!

Dinner for two and we were looking for pizza. Had a delicious house salad and the grande El Novillo pizza (all the meats plus mushrooms) and it was absolutely fantastic… big enough for 4 people. Genuine kind, appreciative and attentive service. Pura Vida! Will come back for certain!

We were in our way to our next destination when we saw this restaurant. Absolutely beautiful open air restaurant with high quality food. They pay attention to the little details, like they branded the logo into the bun! The IPA has their own private label. I know we shouldn’t have cheeseburgers in another country but I had to scratch that hitch and it was good! Funny The waitress tried to serve the burger to my son…. The responsible kids had a traditional Costa Rican dishes that I tried and the beef was so tender. The portions were a large and generous and the prices were fair. I highly recommend going out of your way to dine here!

This is a very good restaurant with many choices in the menu, I ate grilled chicken and pizza and it was amazing. The price isn’t very cheap but not expensive and the view is good, I recommend it!

Tommy like steak!!! Man what a great meal I just had. Staying at Tabacon and found this restaurant just a stones throw away. The beef was fantastic as were the sides. Angela was super sweet and such a good server. A++++

Ceviche was amazing! I’m drooling just thinking about it now. Best hamburger! If you’re craving one in Costa Rica… Go here! It melted in your mouth. We got the virgin Piña colada and the mango smoothie too, both were so delicious! Another huge hit was the fish platter and Carmen’s chicken!
The ambiance there was so beautiful. Scenery is stunning, cute hanging swings in the front, wide open dining area with the smell of smoked wood in the back from the meat chef. it was delicious and just perfect. We were all satisfied. Our friends last night in Costa Rica was this night and they said this was the best food they had their whole time here.
