We really love this unique homey personal restaurant – the food, service, atmosphere & experience are outstanding. Family owned & operated with a warm story to match. Romantic and enchanting. Shares the beet salad to start. The striploin was prime, aged, beautiful flavour. Filet was tender, spices did not overwhelm. Both cooked as asked to medium rare. Roasted vegetables perfect for fall. Chocolate is always good so sharing a lava cake was a great way to end the meal!

I come to Cabo San Lucas 2-3 times a year, and this is my favorite restaurant in the area – located in San Jose del Cabo. I especially like dining on the patio – very warm and inviting. This is the place to go if you want a romantic dinner, with excellent food / service, and being welcomed / pampered in what feels like a Mexican family’s home. Pablo, El Matador, passed away a few years ago, but the restaurant carries on and is run by his family. This is a very unique dining experience, and I highly recommend it if you find yourself in the area.

Excellent! Courtyard seating, complete with pool, makes you feel like you’re dining in a family home. Chateaubriand was tender and delicious! Wine pours were generous. Warm chocolate cake was so good I forgot to take a picture! Service was a bit slow, but gave us time to digest between courses. Lots of menu choices. Kind of off the beaten path. Even our Uber driver had a hard time finding it. No obvious signage in front, but so worth finding!

Atmosphere is ok, I found it a bit odd that we were the only people there when the Google review was so good. Sort of a tourist scam. Nothing special about the restaurant. Subpar quality food for the price and the service was very minimal. Lamb chop was totally overcooked and the veal was cold. Scallops and shrimp were pretty good but overall not with the trip and the price.

Absolutely perfect night. You felt you were invited into Pablo’s personal house for an entertaining and romantic night; filled with live classical guitar music, specific dishes that are made right in front of your table (including slicing the New York to your liking of thickness at the table), and a comfortable yet very authentic Mexican “backyard” lit up with mini lights and candles. Women are given menus without prices which was funny but yet so chivalrous in this day and age. Worth every dollar and will be a dinner we will always remember. You won’t be disappointed!
