My wonderful friend just moved to Defuniak, and we went to go to the lights downtown and stumbled upon this gem. My partner being a little Nola herself was already set for this adventure together into new culinary territory. The inside reminded me of an old downtown New Orleans vibe with lots of gold and flash. Being a catfish lover already we had to get the appetizer which did not disappoint. Came out hot and fresh and honest to god it was so flavorful itself that it didn’t need any hot sauce. But I still added some in case you were wondering… I got their signature dish with blackened fish, crab topping and a butter sauce, the crab stuffing was slightly dried out but overall enjoyed the dish. K got the etouffee, which wasn’t to bad but had much better, some shrimp were soggily but overall not bad for the area. Finished with the benigns, more croissant style the doe but still good. Definitely coming back for the cat fish alone and can’t wait to explore more options.

Stopped in and ordered a fried oyster basket $26.99 and a tea. Waitress was awesome and employees spoke and smiled, friendly atmosphere. I told her I wanted my fries a little crispy and they were..very good. The coleslaw for me was ok, but I’m a miracle whip coleslaw person and want a little sweetness, but that’s me, I ate it because I wanted some vegetables in me. Now the oysters were very seasoned (salty) for me, now that would’ve been ok IF you had a semblance of oyster in it. Alas this didn’t it was a hunk of seasoned meal with a SMALL amount of oyster. Can’t say anything about the other food, I know it has to be good BUT I would NOT recommend the fried oysters.

We ate here last night. Our server Kiana was very nice and helpful when we asked questions. We ordered drinks and cups of gumbo instead of appetizers. That was a hit right off the bat. Wow. We both ordered shrimp baskets prepared different. Plenty of delicious food. What made this restaurant different was the servers. Kiana got tied up with a large group. Usually when that happens a group of two usually gets set aside. But not here. She asked another server to pay attention to us and it was like she didn’t skip a beat. The other server was just as helpful and it was great. If your looking for good food and outstanding service NOLA is a good bet.

This place was amazing! The fried greens tomatoes were delicious and the shrimp and grits were the best I’ve had! Jordan the waiter, very nice and patient guy. I will definitely be going back!

I came in somewhat famished after suffering from food poisoning and eating little to nothing for days and having spent the day outside at the beach semi-recovering… I came in with that appetite ready to eat the menu.
We had a great server. The place looks great. It was not the fastest, but the food was HOT! which is greatly more important than speed. You can tell they were cooking.
We tried some crab cakes, which were outstanding. My gumbo was okay, a bit too salty, and no spicy component. My daughter had the fish tacos and said they were amazing. The fries were fire.
I got the shrimp n’ grits, something I get at almost every New Orleans style restaurant I go to… this was both delightful and disappointing; let me elaborate… those shrimp were delectable. I’d eat them every day. However, the menu lists as being served with a NOLA style bbq sauce, and what i got was a plop of gravy in the middle of my grits. As you’ll see in my photos, half of my shrimp were in puddles of oil… unlike other photos from this restaurant or like any other shrimp n’ grits I’ve had. Overall, the flavors were quite good, and the hominy texture was great… definitely not instant grits. I couldn’t finish where i had big oil puddles, tho – after not eating for days, I might have polished it off.
They could really benefit from a visit from a sound engineer to create some sound damping. Great music, but it’s kept too loud for the room. it’s just banging off the walls everywhere, especially with few people inside. Major overstimulation. I’d lose my mind to it if I were an employee here.

Always incredible food and service! We love having Sunday brunch here whenever we are in town. You can’t go wrong ordering from the brunch menu, but the regular menu also has great options (barbecue shrimp is always a winner). Today I had the blackened shrimp benedict and it was delicious!!

What an amazing find…NOLA restaurant in Pensacola is a gem…amazing food (you must try the beignets…they’ll melt in your mouth); such wonderful & happy staff (Kudo’s to CeJa and Nadia- they are the BEST!!!) that were professional, honest, and personable; fried green tomatoes (co. sent the wrong remoulade…can’t wait for the correct sauce); fried shrimp A+; BBQ shrimp awesome; overall an A+ Thank you for the several meals we’ve had….look forward to our next meal…soon!

Me and my family came here for my grandmas birthday party, I ordered the Geaux Geaux soft shell crab, with cheese fries on the side. The service was good even though the waiter forgot to give us the 50% discount on the oysters for happy hour. The environment and music they played was great aswell the only problem was the food, my soft shell crab tasted absolutely disgusting with the price of $30.99. Absurd, and my cheese fries looks like they just threw a slop of cheese ontop. Great music, and good service, terrible food. Won’t be eating here again.

Worst food ever. They don’t even know how to make a roast beef poboy. Obviously not from New Orleans. I can make a better tasting roast beef poboy with deli meat from Walmart. Very disappointed. My husband ordered crawfish ettouffee but it was just their gumbo with some crawfish throwed in it. Never going back. It would be nice if we had a REAL new Orleans restaraunt in pensacola.
