Have eaten out at a lot of places — and you can probably tell by the size of my stature — but without a doubt, this was the best service we’ve ever experienced. The team worked together with incredible synergy, and the wine pairing to each dish on the set menu was absolutely spot on. Every course delivered a combination of flavours unlike anything we’ve ever tasted.
This is genuinely one of the highlights of all our restaurant experiences, and we will definitely be back. Once again, the team — just exceptional. And the setting, overlooking Hobart Harbour, was the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable night.

My partner and I got the chefs menu and drinks pairing and they went together so flawlessly. The views were unbelievable, the DJ was setting the tone perfectly all night, and I just can’t get over every dish and how well rounded and decadent they were. The highlights for me were definitely the wine pairing, I’ve never had wines synchronize with my foods in such a way – I am also blown away by the seafood preparation, the scallops and mussels were otherworldly, the focaccia icecream was so unique and the quite literally best icecream we’ve ever had. We loved our chats, we loved your stories, and we loved celebrating some big milestones as a couple at MARIA❤️

My partner and I picked this restaurant at random on our holiday down to Tassie and it ended up being the best experience we had on the trip. We have not stopped telling people about it. The staff worked together like a well oiled machine and you can really taste the care that went into the food (and wine pairing!)
I also really appreciate the care they took for my dietary requirements as a celiac so I didn’t feel left out of a beautiful dining experience. Thank you especially to the amazing Hedley, Ben and Ray! You made us laugh, you made us very full and you really made our night. We will definitely be back down for more!

We had a wonderful experience of fine dining last night at Restaurant Maria.
Every single element of our meal was at an exceptional level.
Atmosphere – relaxed and stylish. We were lucky enough to have a table looking out over the water, which was beautiful.
Staff – friendly and relaxed with an obvious great team vibe. Every member of staff we interacted with were outstanding and were enthusiastic to provide us with the best experience possible.
In particular Riley who explained the set menu in great detail and his knowledge of the wines being paired with each of the five courses was detailed.
Food – quite simply the best meal we’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. The fact there was an option of a vegetarian replacement for some of the different courses if it wasn’t to the guests tastes. eg) l won’t eat oysters. The alternative offered to me was braised Brussel sprouts which l gladly accepted. Alternative options were determined by the chef for each course in line with the flavour profile of the particular dish. We both felt that was exemplary example of how committed to the food provided to the guests was.
We will definitely be making a booking in the future.

Our experience with the set menu was exceptional. We loved every course – with our favourite probably being the oyster / scallop one. Watch out for the palette cleanser – it will blow your mind.
RAF, our waiter, was outstanding & knew everything we wanted to know about the food, its origins, the chefs methods & tastes!!! Our experience was fun, exciting & fabulous!!!

We got the chefs tasting menu for my partners birthday. From the moment we arrive. The atmosphere was amazing. Staff so friendly and nice. Great service and the food was all amazing. Couldn’t fault any dish. Highly recommend. The octopus Orzo was stand out, and have to say the wallaby, macadamia hummus and homemade focaccia was ❤️

First – thank you Jo, Ray, Den, Heath, Manuel, and others – amazing service.
The dishes – nothing was bad at all. The standouts were the taramasalata (OMG, 25 out of 10!!) and the wallaby tartare (with a white wine), the occy was surprisingly good with a red wine, and the dessert was just yum!!
We will be back the next time we visit Hobart.

A really special dining experience with friends, in a beautiful location. We had the set menu, and everything was delicious – clearly a lot of thought put into beautiful ingredients, taste and texture. Raph was our primary server and was delightful, very knowledgeable with fab recommendations for our drinks – we loved all the service staff really! It was high end, but friendly and unpretentious. I would give this restaurant 500 out of 5 if I could. This is up there with the best European restaurants I’ve been to and the flavours are unbelievable. The wine pairing is perfect, and full glasses! The tarama, sardine and scotch fillet were stand outs. The venue and service is flawless. Our waitress Molly was exceptional and made the experience fantastic. It’s expensive for Hobart, but it’s cheap compared to the quality of the food. Just perfection.
