Rein Osteria

Rein Osteria offers a simple yet inviting atmosphere from the moment you walk in. We visited for lunch with a group of six friends and were seated quickly without much of a wait or need for a reservation.

We began with appetizers and cocktails — the drinks were perfectly balanced, and the food was both flavorful and well-prepared. The quality exceeded expectations for the price point, and the service was prompt, courteous, and attentive throughout our meal.

Our group enjoyed a variety of dishes, including the Ribeye, New York Steak, Mac & Lobster, and a Poke Bowl. Each plate was nicely presented and cooked to perfection. We finished with dessert and Lavazza coffee, which provided a wonderful ending to our dining experience.

Overall, Rein Osteria delivers excellent food, great value, and warm service. We look forward to returning in the evening to enjoy the dinner atmosphere.

I came here to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately left very disappointed. The atmosphere was just okay—nothing special—but the food really missed the mark.

We ordered wings and they were extremely bland. The lemon pepper wings were especially bad; they tasted like plain wings tossed in mustard and pepper, which was honestly unpleasant. The salmon was the only good dish we had, but the pasta was also under-seasoned and lacked flavor.

What made the experience worse was the service. Our server was not friendly and kept giving us up-and-down looks, which made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. As the only people of color in the restaurant, it was hard not to feel judged or treated differently, which is unacceptable—especially when you’re there to celebrate something special.

Our servers were incredibly accommodating, patient and kind, even on a busy Saturday night.

This is a middle of the line spot in terms of formality – fancy plating and chandeliers alongside simple farmhouse digs and TVs at the bar.

My family was raving about their food and they absolutely loved it.

The brussels sprouts were delicious and had incredible flavor and a unique twist but I wish they were a tad crispier.

We will definitely be back!

What a beautiful restaurant. Their menu has a wide selection sure to please all taste buds and if you’re a horse lover, this place is most definitely for you with its well placed art and decor. The view of the water across the street just adds to the open, airy and peaceful setting. Our waitress was phenomenal. Had the calamari, crabcake, New England clam chowder, beet salad, fish and chips, and scallop with couscous dishes, and it was not only plentiful, but extremely delicious as well. Highly recommend.

This is sort of a combined review of two visits. I wish that I could give 3.5 stars. I rounded up for Rein because of great customer service during both visits. Perched on a hill in an easy to reach main road in Danbury, Rein has plenty of parking and is attractive inside and out. If you have mobility issues, park in the rear to avoid a whole lot of steep stairs. Upon entry, you will see that the restaurant has a large bar in the center of the floor space. Perhaps this is a subtle hint to the owners priority. On the first visit, I chose the fried calamari appetizer and chicken parm for my entre. My friend got the Brussel sprouts and tuna tartar. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Chicken parm is my restaurant test order for new places. If you can’t get that simple dish right, then I never come back for a second shot to disappoint me. My friend ate his tuna like a hostage. My chicken plate was delicious and so plentiful that I had leftovers for two days. Visit #2. I went back to the calamari. This treat was excellent again. My wife liked the clams but did not love them. She kept picking out large pieces of green peppers. Is that supposed to be in baked clams? Surprisingly, it was reported that the skirt steak was outstanding. As most know, a skirt steak can be a toss-up, but this one was righteous. The vegetables depicted were probably blanched and kinda hard. I tried them, and the string beans were ok, but the carrots were as tough as Kevlar. It seemed that they may have been undercooked AND possibly reheated. I chose the ribeye over the 10oz fillet. Maybe that was a mistake. This is NOT a prime steakhouse, and my ribeye reflected that. This steak was as tough as Timberland leather. Both steaks were prepared medium well. I never liked a crime scene on my plate. Your mileage may vary. I have been served great tender and juicy steaks cooked to this temperature many, many times, so that wasn’t it. I wonder if the grade of meat was select, which is on a lower level than supermarket choice. The lobster tail was larger than expected and prepared to perfection. My smashed potato and spinach were good, just good. There was one alcoholic drink ordered and no soft drinks. The grand total was pretty darn grand for what we got. With a 20% tip, the damage was $200! This was NOT a two “C” note meal or experience buy any means. I would go back there for the calamari, but I would probably never order a steak from them again. As a final note, the bathrooms and the dining areas were very clean. Enjoy or not. You make the call.

Our new go-to spot for either a special night out or a casual meal! Most recently enjoyed our wedding anniversary and everything was perfect from the cocktails to dessert and everything in between. The Brussels sprouts are the best I’ve ever had!

I went here on a Thursday night. At first, the place looked appealing and welcoming, and the host was nice and seated us right away. Unfortunately, everything went downhill once our server came over. They had an attitude, looked at us strangely, and made us feel uncomfortable. The food was just okay not worth the price. Most of it was bland, especially the chicken wings, which had no seasoning at all. On top of that, we were constantly ignored by the staff. They clearly saw us and chose not to help; we had to call for assistance multiple times while they were just standing around. What made the experience worse was that we felt we were being treated differently because of how we look. The behavior came across as discriminatory and made us feel unwelcome. Honestly, I don’t recommend this place. We barely touched the food and asked for the check right away just to leave

Rein Osteria is absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious — highly recommend the zuppa di pesce and the seafood tower appetizer, both were fresh and full of flavor. They even made a special dish for my kids, which was such a nice touch. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the service was great. The view of the lake made the whole experience even better. The desserts were wonderful too! I’d suggest making a reservation since it gets busy, but they were kind enough to accommodate us without one. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!

Underwhelming experience. Likely just an off night given the other reviews. Service was absolutely terrible. Appetizer plates sat on our table uncleared for 10 minutes, offered another round of drinks about 20 minutes late. The main course was warm at best. Served dessert without any silverware. Atmosphere was great. (It wasn’t overly busy, even if it was for the price I expect much better).

Will give it another chance but this was not a very good experience.

If we could give Rein Osteria 10 stars, we absolutely would! This gem in Fairfield County is hands-down one of our all-time favorite restaurants, and for good reason. We’ve dined here numerous times and are blown away every single visit. The menu is a masterpiece of culinary artistry—favorites like the tuna and salmon tartare are absolute perfection, and the recent addition of the Bolognese has quickly become a new obsession. The scallops? Divine. And when the lamb chops are on special, they’re nothing short of spectacular.

Chef Fernando is a true genius in the kitchen, creating dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. But what makes Rein Osteria truly exceptional is the incredible staff. They’re some of the best in the industry—warm, attentive, and always ensuring an unforgettable dining experience.

Rein Osteria has set the bar so high that we’ll keep coming back again and again. If you’re looking for extraordinary food, impeccable service, and a dining experience that feels both refined and welcoming, Rein Osteria is the place to be. Thank you to Chef Fernando and the whole Rein team, for consistently delivering magic!
