This is our absolute favorite takeout place. Everything is just so delicious. Between Mountain View and San Mateo there used to be an Asian food dead zone and this wonderful restaurant was our go to. There are way more options now but we still go to Redwood Bistro because they are the BEST!

I love that the owners are local and part of our community.

Our favorites are the eggplant, green (long beans) and salt and pepper fish! Highly recommend.

Our second visit to Redwood Bistro in relatively quick succession was late on the day after Thanksgiving. We had enjoyed our previous experience and were in the neighborhood and called, as it was within 30 minutes to closing. We were warmly greeted when we arrived and the food was great. This time we tried the Redwood spicy noodles, which had numbing peppercorns in the broth, but balanced and not overpowering, the Redwood glazed ribs, tender and slightly sweet and the eggplant and beef, which was also excellent!
Thank you for your hospitality and the delicious meal.

Food: 4-5/5
Service: Standard, didn’t lack anything
Ambiance: Casual
Value: 4/5

We ordered the chongqing style beef, cabbage, cold noodles w/ chicken and dumplings. The Chongqing style beef is definitely a specialty item and more “unique” where you may not find it at every Chinese restaurant. This was my favorite dish and imo really good. The cabbage was tasty and the rest of dishes were good, but nothing mind blowing.
Service was standard where we got refills timely and food came out quick, but nothing above and beyond.
I would come back again for certain dishes and that comfort feeling.

Pretty average Chinese spot. They are open late! We ordered pickup, and it was ready to go in a reasonable amount of time. Very limited seating inside. It’s located in a busy area so it was a little challenging to find parking.

You know after I ordered I thought “this better be some AMAZING Chinese food if they make me pay extra just for white rice to come with the dish” and well, it WAS amazing. Probably the best general tso I’ve had! Definitely worth the price!

I’ve been on a hunt for the best spicy beef noodle soup in the Bay Area, and I must say – the Redwood Original Spicy Noodle Soup (with beef instead of pork) is top notch! So so good, I want to eat it again and again. Loved the jalapeños, numbing Szechuan broth, tender beef, thick and plentiful noodles, and pickled greens. All around, a phenomenal soup, at a great price. Can’t wait to return. Thank you!

Update 5/25/24: tried the Dan Dan Noodles and didn’t love them to be honest! Very strong/bitter tahini flavor, and no szechuan peppercorn. I also got the Redwood Original Spicy Noodle Soup (again), and it was even better than the first time!

Update 6/14/24: I ordered the Redwood Original Beef Hot Chili Sauce; unfortunately it came as chicken instead. It was very spicy and flavorful, but probably not something I would get again. I also had the R.O. Spicy Noodle Soup (for the third time), delicious as ever.

Update 7/6/24: I finally had the Chongqing Style Dried Sauteed Beef with Chili. It was so so so good! Crispy texture, delicious five spice and chili flavor, and large quantity. Along with the R.O. Spicy Noodle Soup, it was a perfect lunch!

I’ve visited Redwood Bistro several times now, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite go-to spots in Redwood City. From the moment you walk in (or order take out), you can tell that quality is a priority here.

Food: Every dish I’ve tried has been flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. Portions are generous. You definitely get good value for what you pay. The lunch specials are especially impressive.

Service: The staff is friendly, prompt, and attentive. Whether dining in or ordering out, everything arrives hot and well packaged.

Ambience & Value: The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. Not fancy, but clean, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed meal. It feels like a place you can count on for consistency. And for what you get, the price is very fair.

Service was great! We came here for dinner and ordered the hot and sour soup, mapo tofu and the dried sauteed beef with chilies. Food came out quickly and was really good. One thing I didn’t like was that the rice was not included and that you have to order it separately. Overall it was a great experience and will be coming back here! Their lunch menu looked really decent price and food wise so will be checking that out!

Once in a while, you find a restaurant that serves great food with a great attitude, and your soul yearns for you to come back again. I’m happy to say, this is one of those places for me.

Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Atmosphere: 5/5
Price: 5/5 (Inexpensive)

This little cafe doesn’t look like much from the outside, but you’ll be instantly amazed the moment you walk in. Our waitress, Lulu, is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. Aside from providing the best service I’ve ever experienced, she went above and beyond by telling me (a new grad student) a lot about the area. It’s nice to feel that someone cares about you.

The food itself was beyond outstanding. The imperial pork chops were the best. Coming right out of the fryer, they were really crispy and tangy. The fish in chili oil goes great over rice. If you’re looking for an authentic Szechuan dish, this is it. It may be too spicy for some, but you can ask to have it mild when you order.

Overall, the food and service were both outstanding. It’s about 7 miles away from my campus, but that’s not going to stop me from coming back.

Love the chinese pancake (煎饼果子) here. The pumpkin cake (南瓜饼) also tastes good. Price is a little more expensive than I expected. Those dim sum are authentic though.
Service can be improved but I guess the character of the owner is very straight.
