Social Profile:

Established in 1944, Red’s is the oldest restaurant in Greene County. Founder Red Mays believed in providing quality fresh seafood, prepared simply to allow the true flavor of the seafood to come through. Today, Red’s continues this tradition while also offering new, exciting and creative dishes. Red’s has been independently owned and operated by Joe and Kate Konopka since 1999. Providing quality food and genuine service in a warm comfortable environment is the mission we continue to this day.

Old-school, wood-paneled seafood eatery serving surf ’n’ turf & other American classics since 1944.

The lobster stew was absolutely delicious! I didn’t see on the menu where it said it came in a bread bowl. I wish I had known that, I would’ve ordered it without. Other than that (which is a personal preference), the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding.

On a SUNDAY we scored food safe and delicious for me to eat and everyone loved their meals. If you hesitate on a cocktail espresso martini, yes they even garnished with beans. Worth the money and I have been here twice with amazing staff every time and seafood like you are in Maine. Worth it!

Having lived in Greene County twenty years ago, I was familiar with Reds. It was our go to restaurant for seafood. We had a reservation for 7, we arrived and were seated quickly. A male waiter came to introduce himself. We asked to hold off ordering until the rest of the group arrived. When everyone else came, we ended up with a female waitress. She took drink orders and we didn’t get those drinks until 30 minutes later. 3 sodas, 2 cocktails, and a glass of wine. My Pepsi was nearly water. She came by twice to tell us our drinks were coming. We had to go ask the hostess to send our waitress so we could order. We were now there for an hour. The waitress perpetually seemed rushed. She knew the specials but had to go find out the prices and what they came with. My wife ordered Snow Crab and loved it. I ordered the fish and chips with a side of onion rings. My fish was excellent but the onion rings were nearly raw. My daughter got the shrimp po boy and she said the shrimp was cold by the time it arrived. Two others in our group raved about the salmon and Crab so it was mixed overall. It took another hour to get the waitress to come back and ask if we wanted dessert. One person started to say they were full and the waitress took off saying that she would get our check. Definitely poor service. We were in no rush so time was not a concern but overall I would not recommend going here. For the price of the meals, the service would have to be much better and food quality more consistent.

Ordered the New England clam chowder – AMAZING. Caesar salad was perfection. The Parmesan crusted grouper, was out of this world. We sat outside and it was an incredible experience start to finish. Highly recommend

Got the shore platter and some of the food was over cooked. The scallops and cooked shrimp were dark brown and the breading almost unedible. The haddock was perfect but doesn’t make up for the rest of the meal. Drink choice was good but didn’t have what I wanted, so stuck with water which was the best part of my meal. Needless to say I won’t be back

Been to reds a couple times each time has been great.
I got the calamari for appetizer which was good, kind of bland needed some seasoning but marinara was great for dipping. Got the prime rib which was delicious cooked and seasoned great.
My guest had the king crab legs which were huge and tasted great, very sweet.
Only thing I didn’t like was the fact they charge for refills on soda but I will be back again.

Had dinner for 6 including flat iron steak, chicken cordon bleu, salmon and duck. All were nicely prepared and went well with the wine selections. Great service and ambience too!

I attended a bridal shower here. The food was excellent. The taste hit each part of your pallet. The atmosphere and decor was neutral in tone yet elegant. Staff were very attentive. If your looking for a venue to celebrate an event, Reds is a wonderful place to hold it.
