It was your typical hole in the wall joint, which I happen to love because they always have the best homestyle cooking. Food came out hot and fresh. Everyone really liked their food. I ordered the pork chop and eggs breakfast with the grits. The pork chop was a little on the drier side and the grits I needed to add salt to, but it was still good. My daughter got the biscuits with gravy and added sausage to the gravy, which I highly recommend because it was quite tasty. Service was great, Texas hospitality true to form and you can’t beat the prices. Enjoy!

Home style cooking with a rural feel. While the restaurant was busy, we did not wait long for a table or service. Our orders arrived in a reasonable time frame.
Food was properly prepared and tasted good, said all members of my party of three.

I LOVE a great greasy spoon, all the locals come together, kinda place and this is it! Excellent service, amazing pancakes, gravy is perfectly spiced, and clean restrooms. Loved just sitting in a booth watching and listening to all the local farmers talk about the weather, their crops, the comings and goings of the town, all while sipping on great sweet tea and filling my belly with happiness.

Delicious catfish! Awesome hush puppies! Coleslaw, French fries, and peach cobbler were good. Friendly waitress and quick service. Quaint cafe feel.

Ol School restaurant that serves up Ol School Southern Breakfast with Ol School Service. On the weekends they make Homemade Cinnamon Rolls…….Uh-huh, Don’t Do It!!
Great Place, go by Everytime we’re up that way.

Waited an hour and a half on breakfast one of the fastest things to cook, not super busy in my opinion. Probably one of the top two slowest places I have ever been. Food was ok not great and a little pricey in my opinion for what we got wont be doing that again. Would have been better off at a fast food restaurant. Wait staff was friendly at least.

meh.
Place wasn’t crazy busy (about 1/3 tables had customers; post breakfast), but service was slow/inattentive. Felt like I was intruding on the waitstaffs’ chatting/leaning time. (not the kitchen staff, though; they were hustlin’!!)
Iced tea weak, steak portion small for price, and biscuits were burnt.
Tables/counter could’ve been cleaner.
Bummer. New in town and had high hopes.

My experience here was great! The food was delicious, the staff were so friendly, and the guests were welcoming also. I came here to eat breakfast two days in a row and would go back again if I was in town longer. Highly recommend this restaurant!

I had the lunch special and it was very good with generous portions. It’s a good old fashioned diner.

Absolutely the best place to go in Brownwood for breakfast! I’ve lived in Brownwood for about 3 years now, not once had I actually ate here until today. I’ve always seen how busy the parking was, and people always talked about how good the biscuits and gravy are. So this morning I decided “ why not go have breakfast there ?” As I’ve been talking about it for a few week. Red wagon did NOT disappoint! Not only is their food really good, the biscuits taste homemade and it’s fairly cheep! Where I’m from that simply little meal for two would have been $35-40 no including the tip.
