We tried Red Sun on our ongoing quest for the best sesame chicken Rochester has to offer. It was a disappointing experience.

Disgusting is about all I can say!! I paid 22 dollars for what look like old sweet and sour chicken that had just been shaken around and some honey sauce. I’m going to walk back inside there and ask for a refund cuz I’m sorry this is not worth $22. I wish I could figure out how to put a picture in here so I can show you what they tried to tell me

Sadly, this once reliable Asian restaurant has turned a corner. Dirty interior. The hostess looked like she just rolled out of bed. We waited 20 mins for our table to be cleared so we could sit. We waited about 15 mins for our server to greet us. We had to ask for water. They only served green tea (no black!). Crab wontons were chewey. Entree (cashew chicken)was not hot, and had exactly 5 cashews. Special fried rice was greasy and tasted old. We quit there. Will find another Asian establishment to frequent!

Everything too salty and way overpriced compared to the amount they served. All the dim sum are frozen food. 4 half-thumb-size frozen food shumai charged us $10. Beef tastes like the cheapest toast soaked in dark soy sauce for a whole night. You can even barely tell if it is real meat. Rice are undercooked and hard. I’m Chinese and my boyfriend is a big Chinese food fan. Both of us have a upset stomach after we back home because the food was so salty and greasy which made us keep drinking iced water. This meal cost us $50 (tips not included). With these money, you can definitely find a better place or a cheaper place serves better food.

We had 8 people and everyone enjoyed their meal. The only “complaint” was the seseme chicken had a slight orange flavor to it. Not bad, just unexpected for seseme chicken. I got Buddha Delight, a vegetarian dish but removed the tofu and added chicken. It was very good. I tried from other’s plates: house lomein, beef and broccoli, wonton soup, all were really good. But my niece got the lemon chicken and it was great! And the portions were very large. I can’t tell you the last time we ALL enjoyed our Chinese food. Since the Jade Palace in Webster went down hill years ago we have been searching for good Chinese and we have tried a lot of places. The staff was great, everything was clean. It was a little pricey but we all brought home leftovers for another meal. We will go back again!

Fantastic decor and atmosphere. We even had live harp during dinner. Food tasted fresh and higher quality than your typical takeout, although still mostly Americanized options like sesame chicken and such. Reasonable prices forces the quality and quantity. Personally I would still probably prefer PF Chang’s but this is a pretty solid addition. Glad to see more fine Chinese dining (vs takeout). Try to the crab fried wontons, they were delicious!

No big deal. I ordered 2 orders of pan fried dumplings and two egg rolls. The dumplings come in 6 pieces NOT 12. In addition to 1/2 as much the price was A LOT more than I normally pay at Chen or Bamboo. The egg rolls were standard buy-frozen bulk egg rolls. Not very good. You can do a lot better than this elsewhere.

We had 4 menus to choose from. The dining room was very loud and then the piano player began playing. The music was enjoyable but unfortunately added to the noise. Our waiter was tending bar, training new staff AND waiting tables. The food WAS delicious but my order wasn’t right, but not wrong enough to complain.
