So incredibly wonderful! We always look forward to our evening at Red Shoe and we are never disappointed! Our server, Sebastian, is amazing, attentive and knowledgeable. My husband and I shared the mango shrimp toast as an appetizer and it was so delicious! We then each got the signature yellow tail snapper dish that was delightful! We highly recommend Red Shoe Bistro. They have two seating each night, 6pm and 8pm. Enjoy!

This was a great meal. Our server John was awesome and really made the experience even better. Every dish we ordered was delicious. The pork belly had perfect texture and the grilled Caesar salad was outstanding with a great balance of cheese citrus and anchovy. I had the grouper topped with a sherry bisque style sauce and it was excellent. My wife ordered the beef stroganoff which might seem unexpected for down here but it was absolutely perfect. We had to try the key lime pie and John said it was the best in the city which is a bold claim but it ended up being one of the best desserts I have ever had. The vibes were great too with fun decor David Bowie art on the walls and a solid playlist. There is a lot of good food down here but this place really stood out.

Get a reservation here in advance. We got the beef stroganoff (which was sherry forward in flavor) and the deviled eggs scallops and the Caesar (pro tip: it comes grilled), and the stuffed poblano pepper. It was just 2 of us but this was more than enough food. The poblano pepper had delicious grits and the pepper wasn’t overcooked which I liked. The beef strog was flavorful and the pasta tasted homemade. The deviled eggs scallop tastes exactly how it sounds, if you like deviled eggs a lot than you’ll probably love this. I forget the server’s name but he was spectacular

A wonderful atmosphere and very helpful, warm, and welcoming service. The ambiance turned out to be perfect for a Christmas Eve dinner—very romantic. The dishes were exquisite; for seafood lovers, this is a perfect place. I especially recommend the shrimp and mango toast and the Caprese salad. It’s definitely worth coming back to try the rest of the menu.

The flavors of the dishes truly delighted me!!!

I was skeptical of the rave reviews prior to eating here, but I was wrong. It is just as good/better than the reviews. Probably some of the best pasta/American/italian food I’ve had in the US, and I’ve tried a lot of the “best” places in NYC. I don’t like lime, but I devoured the key lime pie. It definitely is pricey, but the food is amazing. Our server, John, was also fantastic, and definitely persuaded us to eat more than we were planning to when entering the restaurant. The interior ambiance is also very romantic and intimate. Fantastic service, fantastic food, 10/10

Susie and Sebastian made our night here at the Red Shoe. Such amazing and attentive service. We ordered their signature dishes, Beef Stroganoff and the Yellowtail Snapper along with the shrimp toast. All were absolutely amazing. I have learned a new love for dill at this restaurant. We also for desert got the Key Lime pie. When in Rome. The pie was also to die for. Not too tart or sweet and the crust was so yummy.

So with that said, we are returning before we leave Key West. No pictures this time because we couldn’t wait to taste everything. However, we will take pictures on our next visit. Thanking everyone at the Red Shoe for an amazing night.

Wow, this place is amazing! Everyone was lined up on the sidewalk waiting for the restaurant to open. The owner came out and recognized anniversaries, birthdays and those folks were seated first, which was very cool! The baked Key west shrimp stuffed with lobster appetizer was delicious, the Caesar salad was good with an original plating. The beef stroganoff was great, we were told it is an old polish recipe from the original owner. The catch of the day was wahoo, it was blackened and came with blackened shrimp, the sauce and salsa were full of flavor. We finished our meal with their homemade key lime pie, it was the best I’ve ever had. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. This was our best meal on the island. Make reservations, they fill up fast.

Review for The Red Shoe Bistro

The Red Shoe Bistro was hands down the best meal we had in Key West. Every dish was bursting with freshness and clearly prepared with care and intention. The food was memorable in a way that stayed with us long after the meal ended.

What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. The vibe is warm, welcoming, and effortlessly social. The staff encourages interaction in a way that feels natural, not forced, and we found ourselves chatting with both the team and other diners, which added to the experience rather than distracting from it.

The decor is creative and full of personality. Everywhere you look there is something interesting or unexpected, including an LP spinning tunes in the bathroom, which perfectly captures the restaurant’s playful, thoughtful charm.

As a surprise bonus, we learned that John, the owner, is a fellow Ridley High alumn, which made an already great experience feel even more personal. Exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and a place that clearly loves what it does.

Red Shoe Island Bistro had great service and a really nice atmosphere. I tried the beef stroganoff—it wasn’t my favorite (I’m a bit picky), but the wine flight was excellent and well curated. We had reserved outdoor seating, and when a cold front moved in, the team proactively offered to move us earlier or provided blankets, which was such a thoughtful touch. That level of customer service really stood out. I’d definitely go back to try other dishes.

Best restaurant in Key West, delicious appetizers especially would recommend the deviled eggs with scallops and lobster bisque (could drown in that sauce).
The entrees were also delicious and don’t skip on the dessert (best key lime pie in the island).
Couldn’t recommend this place enough!!
