My husband, daughter, and I decided to take a 30 minute drive to see how this location was doing. I’ve been here many times since they opened, but not in several years at least; when they first opened, it was a great place to go, but they declined over time. I decided to give them another shot, and I was really hoping it was gonna be solid.
It’s an interesting space on approach, but the atmosphere is like an updated honky tonk, everything is clean, including the bathrooms, multiple TV’s with various shows playing, and the space is perfect for having a cold beer and decent steak.
We ordered ribeyes, fried shrimp, green beans, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and mac n cheese between the three of us. We ordered our steak rare, and it definitely came that way… had a good char and flavor… but it wasn’t the best cut of ribeye, and was pretty difficult to cut. Forget about eating the fat, it was tough as wood. The sides were served in separate bowls, and were just basic. There was nothing to make this food stand out from other places, nothing to make it special and worth the drive. I could basically get the same thing at Chili’s. The shrimp was way overcooked and the mashed potatoes were bland. My 8 year old daughter loves shrimp, but she could barely chew through these.
I’ll repeat, I really wanted to give this space 5 stars, but the food wasn’t special. I’m giving 4 stars, because of how clean it was, the chill atmosphere, and the staff. While we were there, someone had a medical emergency and EMS had to be called. The staff was very kind and attentive to that family and cared for them so well.
Update your menu, find a passion for cooking, and give us a space that we need, a space with good food that can be shared with friends and family. I’m rooting for you.

The food was great. My steak was cooked perfectly. The asparagus and Mac and cheese was great. The parmesan crusted catfish was awesome. The Red Rock punch was unique and a definite try. Can not wait to go back.

Wow! In the dead smack in little ol Red Rock, this place you have to try. This is NO chain. This is the real deal.
Their beef nachos are … amazing! The ground beef is seasoned, the beans are well seasoned and the queso is so good and its huge. The steak is perfection. (See pic) The wings are sumptuous. (See pic) and….wait for it…..the homemade peach cobbler with a crumble oatmeal top served warm and topped with vanilla ice cream … Lordy Lordy that’s just the best. Now they also have breakfast and they got hamburgers and fish and yes they have amazing salads. They have it all. And if that weren’t enough they have an outside and bar for outside events … WOW! And they have a museum worthy collection of antiques.

Great place to eat with family. Or have a steak and beer at the bar side of the restaurant. At 7pm A band or karaoke begins. Service is great waitresses are very attentive. It’s hidden but it’s a beautiful area with a nice big patio in the back.

Wow! Drove out from Leander to give these folks a try, and let’s just say, we were not disappointed! Fantastic meal! Ribeye cooked medium rare perfectly! Compliments to the chef! Chicken Enchiladas with all the extras for my wife were delicious! Great drinks, service and a charming ambiance for this old school general store converted to a small town steakhouse. Jennifer was an excellent server, attentive and funny. Highly recommend!

We were pleasantly surprised at the obvious improvement in quality of food. Check out the new menu! Gotta love that dinning room too. While past management may have been poor, we think the current team is off to a good start. The chicken fried steak was tender and flavorful. The fried mushrooms were delicious! They also have a daily special that is a great deal. Yippee! Steak is now available and can also be purchased for your freezers.

First time in my life I’ve ever seen a ribeye that is a quarter inch thick. Usually thicker, especially for the price I was charged. Poor quality of meat. And today all 4 of us are feeling bad. The quality of the dinner was poor and too expensive. I don’t mind paying for a good meal. The 4 of us will not return. Our waitress was friendly. They were not organized and not ready for Valentine Day evening. Tables not set up. Then there was a dog behind glass doors barking, don’t know what that was about.
