Red Onion is a small and clean restaurant. The food tastes very good and fresh. I tried the beef noodle soup and pork chop rice both were delicious. The staff is kind and helpful. The place is quiet and good for a simple meal. Prices are fair, and the portions are big. I also liked the bubble tea. The menu has many choices, and the food comes fast. It’s a nice spot for lunch or dinner. If you like Taiwanese food, you should try this place. I will go again soon and bring my friends.

First time here since we are trying new restaurants that we have never been to around the area and it’s a hidden gem. Servers are friendly and attentive, food is amazing Taiwanese cuisine. We ordered the oyster omelet and rougeng soup as starter. Main course, we got the braised pork over rice, water spinach, three cup chicken hotpot and my personal favorite the fried pork intestine. They are all excellent and I am sure there are many more must try dishes that our stomach don’t have room for. Highly recommend this place!

After nearly 3 months in this country, I start missing Asian food and soup is the best dish when the weather is cold. I was searching on Google Maps for Asian restaurants near my hotel and checked the reviews. Red Onion has the best reviews in general and it’s only 9 minutes walk from my hotel. Perfect.
As soon as I entered, a warm young guy greeted me with a big smile. I noticed a nice drawing covering the table and protected by a glass top. I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup and more dishes to go in case I got hungry later on. The portion was huge, I only can finish a third and took the rest back to the hotel.
The spare ribs was delicious, better than the boneless one. Love the red bean as dessert too.
The owner is an artist, I was allowed to take all of his paintings which decorated the walls. The table cover is also so varied, it’s so unique. I’d come back if I can.

Food was really good especially pork chop and 3 cups chickens. The store owners were so nice. They both really love kids – restaurant is very kid friendly! Thank you for letting our boys play with some of your cars too.

Red Onion is a gem! The food is incredibly authentic, bursting with flavor, and remarkably fresh. The crispy fried pork intestines and Taiwanese meatballs are absolute must-tries. Discovering genuine mom-and-pop places is a joy, and David,( a retired NYC professional dancer and artist who still teaches dance classes in NJ), who runs the show, adds a wonderful personal touch to the experience. Highly recommended for a delightful culinary adventure!

This is such a neat and cute little place, a great hidden gem! The inside is very quaint and clean, with great customer service. Although I got takeout, I would definitely come back and dine in with friends! The food was very tasty and extremely affordable. Would definerly recommend to others if your looking for a calm and pretty little place to have great chinese food!

Gloomy looking restaurant but we were willing to try out because of the good reviews. Definitely NOT authentic Taiwanese cuisine. My Taiwanese mother in law makes better and more authentic Taiwanese food. We ordered Taiwanese mi fen (rice noodles) and it was so dark and just tasted like soy sauce. The fried spare rib is full of batter and not much meat and it tasted a bit sour-ish, not sure if it’s not fresh or it’s just bad seasoning. Definitely will not come back here or recommend to anyone.

I haven’t had Taiwanese food since my last trip to Taiwan about 5 years ago. I was excited to see a Taiwanese restaurant in the area and had to stop and try it. Service is very friendly.
We ordered two classic famous Taiwanese dishes: pork chop rice and beef noodle soup. The beef soup had real huge chunks of beef and the noodles were handmade. Both tasted ok and were decent. Not sure if it tasted as good as the food in Taiwan though.
What’s really disappointing is the scallion pancake
It literally is a scallion pancake…one scallion in the entire pancake!! See pic. Is there a shortage of scallions???
