Red Mesa Mercado is a Cali-Mex sit-down, fast-casual spot in West St. Pete serving modern Mexican street food. Guests can enjoy tacos, bowls, and margaritas in an indoor or outdoor setting. With quick service and bold, not-your-basic burrito flavors, it’s a go-to for casual dining, takeout, and margaritas.

Excellent experience at Red Mesa Mercado – West St. Pete.
We came for lunch with family and friends, including kids, and the place truly exceeded our expectations. We didn’t have to wait for a table, and the space is large, comfortable, and well organized.
One of the best features for families is the kid-friendly environment. They have a small play area and also provide coloring pages and crayons, which made the visit much more enjoyable and relaxing for those of us dining with children.
The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with a beautiful garden area and plenty of space to sit and enjoy your meal without feeling crowded.
The food was delicious, fresh, and well presented, and the service was fast and friendly.
Highly recommended for families, groups of friends, or anyone looking for a relaxed lunch spot in St. Petersburg.

We enjoyed a nice long dinner here with many options. I love the sweet potato options and I chose the sweet potato bowl. ETHAN offered great service and explained the pork toppings options from shredded pork, pork verde with Green sauce, and pork rojo with red sauce. I chose verde sauce and the sauce highlighted the beans and sweet potatoes and cilantro. My cohort chose two beef taco with seasoned rice and pinto beans. Yum yum. All goes well with a hand crafted margarita. The flan is incredible. I wanted churros so we took them home with a great dulce de leche sauce. So yummy
The venue offers low level music with good option for conversation.
The ambiance is relaxed and upscale with twinkle lights for outdoor patio seating and indoor seating with accessible tables.
Menus are light paper with legible dark letters.
Excellent service
Entry is accessible with medium weight doors.
Accessible venue. Accessible restroom with push door 2 grab bars and 4 ftx 6 ft space

Definitely upgrade your margaritas to the hand-made ones!!!!!! The queso was good and made you want to drink more, lol. The cali burrito was “delicious” according to my husband. The Quesabirria was ok (maybe to smoky for me, not sure), I added some queso on top and that helped enhance the flavor, would have been better with some real consommé on the side. The service was great and the atmosphere was so nice. The giant oak and covered outside patio was really nice for outside dining.

Mercado West is a wonderful addition to west St. Pete. I truly wanted to give 5 stars — the landscaping is beautiful, the design is lovely, the staff is kind, and my bean burrito was tasty.
The one missing star is about the rigid menu. It’s not a big menu to begin with, and as a vegetarian, Mexican restaurants are usually great about simple swaps — like “hold the meat, add beans.” I hoped to try their house-made flour tortilla tacos with beans or rice instead of chicken or beef. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option, and the response felt like others had asked before.
They just opened, so hopefully they’ll add more flexibility over time. Even a small change would make a big difference for vegetarians like me.

The newly opened Red Mesa Mercado on Central is already one of my favorite spots in St. Pete—and it’s close enough to walk, which makes it even better! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The tacos, burritos, and street corn are incredible, and the salsas are some of the best around. The atmosphere is lively and fun, with great outdoor seating that captures the local vibe perfectly. The staff are friendly, fast, and always welcoming. Whether you’re grabbing lunch, dinner, or a late-night bite, Red Mesa Mercado never disappoints. Five stars all the way!

Small interior but large outdoor seating. Our party of 5 lucked out and managed to snag an inside seat on a Wednesday evening. Be prepared to wait or sit outside. Server was great, food was yummy, everyone was happy.

We live in the area and have been several times since they opened last year. The food and service is always great. The veggies in the burrito or quesadilla always have the nice grilled taste but are still a bit crunchy. The Pork Colorado burrito never disappoints either. The atmosphere outside is so relaxing and nicely landscaped. But one of the main things we so enjoy is that you can sit inside or outside seating on a beautiful day or night and they do not blast the music like every restaurant along the beach does. We have stopped going to a few because you can’t even have a conversation because it’s so loud.

We had a group of eight on Friday night and sat outside and even brought our dogs. The atmosphere is absolutely charging, and the food is fresh and really tasty. We started with their dips and guac and queso Trio. The Guac was very fresh and the queso was the best. I had the plantains- so good. We also loved the Cali burrito, chili relleno and the pork and carne asada. The manager was welcoming and the staff was very attentive and fun. Very good Margaritas!

The food is good, but you have to read the menu. Two in our group ordered chile relleno burritos and missed that they would come INSIDE A BURRITO. Flavor was still great, plenty of cheese. Guacamole is fresh and chunky, awesome. Different levels of hot sauce, all good. Cheese sauce is like queso… usual. Rice was ok but beans are good- could use a dash more cheese. 🙂 The drinks are not strong or cheap. It was our first time and service was good. Food came out FAST!
