P.S.- For fast and efficient service. Ask for Sophie or Sam they never disappoint And always delivering amazing service. ❤️❤️❤️
We came in around 5 and it was empty. My MIL and I picked a booth by the windows. I enjoy seeing the buzz of this city. It’s was chaotic outside but so chill inside. It was nice to have the joint to ourselves.
Jay served us tonight. He dropped off a couple menus and got some waters started for us. It was my MIL’s first time trying Vietnamese cuisine. It took her a minute to breeze over the menu. As much as I wanted everything, I started off with a cup of the hot and sour soup. For dinner I got the black bean shrimp with veggies. My MIL decided on the bun thit nuong with cha gio.
Last minute my MIL decided on some hot and sour soup too. They were dropped off first and it was perfect for hot soup on this cold winter day. The broth was thick and flavorful. It had hearty pieces of tofu, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. The soup had a good heat to it. The heat didn’t hit you right away, it
gradually got spicier the more you ate it. My mouth was burning towards the end of my bowl. It was good but it could have been a bit more sour.
My plate of black bean shrimp and veggies came out hot! The veggies looked fresh and colorful. The shrimp were plump. And the sauce smelled flavorful and salty from the fermented black bean. You can tell my dish just came out fresh from the wok. The veggies and shrimp were so hot! The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The zucchini, green peppers and bamboo shoots were my favorite. All the veggies were covered in sauce, probably the best way to eat your veggies. I ate the whole plate! I’m not the biggest fan of water chestnuts and I even polished those off. My dish was fantastic.
Jay did a great job serving us tonight. He was patient and attentive. He checked up on us several times even though he was so busy with to go orders.
The location of this joint was so convenient. Even though it was freezing out, it was cool to walk to dinner. But it’s also got to know they have parking available for their guests. Jay did a great job taking care of us tonight. And the food was spot on. I still have quite a few places I need to hit up when I’m in SLC but if we stay in the area again, I will have to hit up Red Lotus again. It was hands down a great meal and experience.
I’m giving four stars because the cashews were forgotten in our dish, and there was not enough chicken in the Sesame Chicken. With better consistency in these details, this place could easily be a five-star spot.
The pon pon tofu was absolutely delicious. Would recommend 10/10
The dumplings were ok but I wouldn’t have them again. The cocktail was extremely sweet! Not bad necessarily but quite a sugar shock
The food was absolutely delicious!! I had the Walnut Shrimp, tasted so good!!
Recently, it has taken a long time just to place an order, an extremely long time to receive the food, and even longer to get the check. Because of this, we’ll likely stop coming for lunch, as there no longer seems to be sufficient attention to service.
At our most recent visit, one person in our group ordered pho and received it in a reasonable amount of time, while the rest of us waited another 20 minutes and ultimately had to ask about our meals. When the food finally arrived, it was not hot, suggesting it had been sitting for some time before being brought to our table.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated issue. On a visit last summer, we were completely forgotten on the patio and left after waiting nearly an hour without receiving our food. On another occasion, we waited inside to be seated at an open table, but no one ever came to seat us, so we eventually left. Today was our final attempt, hoping the service had improved.
It’s disappointing to take this spot out of our lunch rotation, as it’s convenient to our office and we generally enjoy the food.
We had a little of everything.. the walnut shrimp, seasame chicken, pho and more!
