We absolutely love Red Horse! It’s become our Monday tradition, and every week it’s an exceptional experience. Buck is our usual server and he’s simply amazing — he always makes us feel like VIP guests. His great stories and attentive service truly set the tone for a perfect evening. The food here is phenomenal; we especially love being able to see the chef at work through the window as they prepare the steaks — such a unique and special touch! Lorraine is always so sweet and kind, going out of her way to make sure we are well taken care of, and Don, the manager, also makes us feel genuinely appreciated every time we visit. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and elevated — we can’t recommend Red Horse enough. It’s hands down one of our favorite places!

Dinner was great. Sometimes you just want to escape and have a quiet dinner by a fireplace especially on a cold day. The french onion soup was perfect. It was hard to pick from that night’s specials prime rib or pork chop in a sweet and yummy sauce. We obviously chose the pork chop. Plan to have left overs because those portions a really good. The bees knees martini was yummy too and just what we needed after a long day. Thanks for providing a consistently tasty dinner in such a relaxing atmosphere.

Protect the Red Horse at all costs! This place is such a staple and gem in Frederick!
While it does have an expensive side, one can still get a very delicious burger or sandwich with one side at a very decent price.
My favorites are the Stallion Burger, Blackened Chicken Sandwich and the Cheesesteak.
All the servers there are super dope, and I always feel right at home when I’m there. Anyone that has visitors to Frederick, should always take them here.

A friend and I had dinner at Red horse last night and Buck our waiter was great. He was well informed on the menu, offered pairing recommendations and his enthusiasm made the experience exemplary. We shared bacon wrapped scallops which were so delicious. My dinner entree was chicken chesapeake with a side of mashed potatoes and broccoli. I found the drink names funny, i ordered the curse which is in the images I plan on going back and to get the cure next time 🙂

We visited on thanksgiving. I ordered the fried pickles, prime rib with au gratin potatoes and fruit cup. The prime rib was 80% fat. The au gratin potatoes were undercooked and were salt bomb. I had to send the potatoes back because they were ice cold. The fruit cup was fresh fruit, but I had two blueberries that were stuck together by mold. When I alerted the staff, they said okay and walked away. The staff was sweet and kind but it was upsetting that my food had so many issues. It made my experience not good and for the amount that I paid, I expected a better food experience.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn next door to The Red Horse Inn and wanted to have seafood for dinner. The weather turned wicked, with ferocious winds battering the area. We walked over to the Red Horse Restaurant and was warmly greeted and seated. Started with Mardi Gras oysters and crab cakes. Delicious! Then we ordered French onion soup. Perfect.. Finished with the fish tacos. Very good. The fruity drinks were well made. If I lived in the area, this restaurant would probably become my go to place for a special dinner treat. Oh, BTW, if you stay at the Comfort Inn, you get a 10% off your food items.

After a long drive we stayed overnight in the Comfort Inn right next door to the Red Horse and decided to walk over for appetizers and drinks. What a delicious surprise this charming place is! We sat next to a warm open fire in a gracious dining room. Our attentive server was Tessa who was knowledgeable about the menu and helped make some recommendations.
We started with side salads, Caesar and garden. Huge portions with crispy fresh ingredients.
The lobster bisque here is sublime! Creamy and loaded with flavor. The bread is crusty and warm, perfect for dipping. We also had the stuffed mushrooms which were delicious. A stuffed baked potato was fluffy and perfect.
Cocktails are potent and expertly prepared. I like bourbon in an old fashioned and it was perfect.
Try this lovely place you won’t be disappointed! I’d love to come back and try some of the creative sounding entrees!

This restaurant feels like it’s still living in 2003 and the décor and menu really reflect that fact. The cost was ludicrous for the quality of the dishes and the ambience was stuffy and dark. At over $300 for our party, I was not happy with the quality of the food. Lukewarm, under-seasoned, and just generally uninspired for such a great foodie destination like Frederick. You could get a much better meal for half the cost at dozens of other restaurants in town. Overall, this restaurant feels like the image of what an older person thinks a fancy restaurant should be, and I think they really need to overhaul the restaurant (food, ambience, everything) before I’d even consider giving it another chance.

We took my parents there for their 60th Anniversary. They went there back in 1969 and tell us their story every time they’re in town and we drive by! We sat at the same table by the fireplace. They had a great time. The food was delicious and Cathy took good care of us. Drinks were always full and she did a great job taking care of us. We felt very comfortable and she took the time to listen to my parents story. We will definitely be back! Thank you for the great experience and I highly recommend going!
