I’ve visited several Red Ginger locations, but the Coralville spot is in a league of its own. If you’ve been to the others, you haven’t truly experienced the brand until you’ve eaten here. I left miserably full, but I wouldn’t change a single bite!
The Fruit Dessert Roll was absolutely OUTSTANDING. It’s a rare find that manages to be fresh, sweet, and perfectly balanced. It’s the kind of dish you find yourself thinking about the next day.
The Highlights:
• The Dynamite Appetizer: This lived up to its name—fantastic heat and flavor that set the tone for the whole meal.
• Warm Comfort: The Sesame Balls were served perfectly warm. There’s something so comforting about that texture when it’s done right, and they nailed it.
• The Atmosphere: The service was quick and the quality of the ingredients felt a step above the usual standard.
• Consistency vs. Excellence: While the other locations are good, this one consistently hits the mark on temperature and presentation.
• Portion Control (Or Lack Thereof!): Be prepared to over-order. Between the creative rolls and the appetizers, it’s impossible to stop at just one or two things.

The sushi was delicious and beautifully presented. A couple rolls had little a bit too much sauce, making it hard to taste the actual ingredients. But for the most part, they were great and tasty. Our waitress was also very helpful and was more than happy to recommend a few rolls. Overall, a place with great sushi at a good price.

We came for the first time last night. Our server, Anthony, was fantastic! He’s exactly the kind of person you’d want working for your business – attentive, smiled, explained, quick service, and courteous. The service was definitely better than the food. The steamed shrimp/veggie dumplings lacked texture and flavor. Same with the roast pork ramen. The chili flakes helped. Probably wouldn’t go back, but again, service was excellent.

Rolls are very tasty and generously proportioned. Atmosphere is very diner like, wen enjoyed our meal and sat and caught up with our friends. The staff was great and more than happy to refill waters several times after we had finished out meal. Will be back again.

It was great! From my picture you can see that everything is half eaten because I ate everything quickly and forgot to take a picture in the beginning. The sesame balls are a new find for me and I enjoyed them immensely. The kimchi was awesome. I had the shumai and that is great. The miso soup was great. The roll in the picture is Lobster Dynamite roll and was just insanely good and crunchy. You’ll love eating here. And the drink is the Thai tea and was awesome.

The food was great. However, to elevate the feeling of eating here, please remove the tacky laminated papers hanging on the walls with tape next to each table. This really gives a cheap feel to the experience. A better way to advertise food is with a tent card on the table.

We’ve been to Red Ginger multiple times in the past 6 months and every time the food is fast and fresh!
I also placed a large order in December for a work gathering. We had it delivered and everything was perfectly packaged. Everyone loved what they ordered. We even split the fruit roll between all of us and all thumbs up!

Our regular sushi place was closed so we tried Red Ginger. It was nice, had a new server who recommended her fav roll, I think it was the Tuck Tuck, fried calamari was the center of it and it was excellent. Not wowed by anything else, but respectable sushi and our soups hit the spot.Miso and I had the onion. Very good customer service and nice atmosphere.

Hello to all my celiac and gluten free friends. I was in Iowa this week and I came and tried red ginger . I love that they had gluten free soy sauce 🙂 and our server was so knowledgeable about celiac and gluten free . I had the Philadelphia roll and I believe the avocado roll. I did try the kimchi tho and I got a slice bloating from it , they did confirm it was gluten free but maybe my stomach wasn’t used to it. Anyways we had a great time and I’ll definitely going back
