The Red Elephant is a fantastic spot for Thai cuisine! Everything we tried was incredibly flavorful and clearly made with care. The basil fried rice was fragrant and perfectly seasoned, the pad thai was deliciously balanced with great texture, and the pepper chicken had just the right amount of heat and depth of flavor.
On top of the amazing food, their Thai tea was outstanding — rich, smooth, and the perfect complement to the meal. You can really tell they take pride in both their cooking and their drinks.
If you’re craving authentic, comforting Thai food, The Red Elephant is absolutely worth a visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!

The restaurant nails the balancing of the four core Thai flavors: spicy, sour, sweet, and salty. My husband and I ordered and enjoyed the Panang Curry (Peanut-Based) and the Pineapple Curry. Overall this is a wonderful spot if you love Thai food. It’s a must have while your here in Ohaua.

This is one of my favorite restaurants on the island! I believe the best food is food made with love, and I receive that every time I go here. This has become such a comfort food spot for me since I moved here. I’ve brought my family, my best friends here and they love it just as much as I do. My favorites are the Tom Kha soup and evil jungle curry! The flavors are always so fresh and strong. On top of the good food, the ambiance is lovely! It’s very cozy and they even have the traditional bench sitting with no shoes which I love. I can tell there was a lot of love and intention put into this place. If you’re looking for good Thai food, go here! The woman who runs it is also so kind and such a hardworker! Support this local business and keep them alive! ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you.

Ordered the Chicken Larb Salad. I’ve never had it taste so bad. So heavily under-seasoned that it tasted like boiled ground chicken. Zero taste. The summer rolls had wilted and browning lettuce inside, and the shrimp inside was of poor color. The Thai beef salad (which was actually tasty), was nearly a soup with how much juice it was swimming in. I had ordered these items for delivery. They failed to send one of the items I purchased, provided no utensils (even after I had selected that option), and did not provide the items I requested in my notes to them. I tried to call to find a solution, but they don’t answer the phone.
There are a ton of Thai places around the island to order from, better to bring your business there. This is by far the worse one I’ve seen.

We love Red Elephant! Best Thai so far on island and we’ve been here at least 6 times. Well worth the short drive from Kailua! Great atmosphere, decor, and covered outside seating is a plus! We bring family here when they come to visit. Every single dish we have tried we have thoroughly enjoyed. Service is always friendly and fast! Personal favorites are the Thai Basil stir fry with pork, Massaman Curry with chicken, and Pad Prik King with pork. The ginger stir fry and evil jungle curry (not as hot as you may think) are also amazing choices. Looking forward to our next visit to add new ones to our list. Parking is in the back.

literally the best thai food on island that I’ve found generous portions very reasonable prices everything tastes fresh and I always feel great during and after I eat it. the green curry and tom kha are to die for. The mixed veggies stirfry is also yummy.

Wow, I felt like I was transported to a rural Thai village to dine on some ancient cuisine. Very unexpected experience considering the busy location. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for authenticity across the board. I’ll be back soon.
