We’ve been here twice and had great experiences both times. You won’t be impressed with the ambiance, but the sandwiches are really good and the prices are reasonable. The Reuben, chicken Philly, and club were all excellent and nicely plated. We also liked the friendly service. Recommended!

Definitely do fish n chips. They are amazing. Skip the coleslaw unless you like vinegar taste. I’m a kfc coleslaw fan I like the sweet taste not the vinegar taste

The Reuben egg rolls were okay. I had these before in another state and I was anxious to find a place in Columbus Ohio that serves them because I really enjoyed them in the other state, whete it was more meat and little sauerkraut and the perfect amount of cheese. At The Red Door Tavern, it was much much more sauerkraut, with cheese with very little meet. -truly a sauerkraut roll. I’m not a fan of the RDT Ruben egg rolls. My second photo is the image of the one from the other state.

An oldy but a goodie in Grandview Heights, yes I know it is actually in Columbus. My daughter and I had potato skins which were excellent with cheese and bacon. I had the steak with bourbon sauce and steak fries and both were very good. My daughter had the cheeseburger and she is not a big meat eater but she loved it, I had a few bites and the burger was excellent. The two ladies at the bar and also waitressing had their hands full but provided great service. A few tables were getting their drink on so it made for a lively fun atmosphere.

God Bless this Tavern. Gene treats his patrons like family. Meriem is the best bartender I’ve ever seen.
BEST BURGERS IN THE CITY. I’ll fight over anyone that says otherwise.
Warning: if you come here for the first time, you might make friends for life.
Shoutout to Tom and Mark.

The food was absolutely incredible. Their sandwiches were really top notch for a great value. A true hole in the wall that wallet isn’t in the nicest part of town. It is still quite a value for what you get.

Went to Red Door for the first time in 20+ years the other day. All the corporate restaurants on 5th were closed because of Snowpocalypse ’26. Red Door was shoveled and open, and the food was just as solid as I remembered. Prefer to support local when possible anyway.

I found myself in Grandview and decided to try this place – I lived around here years ago so it’s probably been 15-20 years since I’ve eaten here. I remembered the burgers being bomb, and today I can say it still was!!!! I ordered a plain burger with cheese and fries Medium and it was thick and juicy with good flavor! As for the rest…..I walked in and sat at the bar at least 10 mins before anyone showed up. I almost walked out but wqs engaged in a phone call that distracted me. The bartender/server wasn’t very nice when she arrived, not even a my bad. After ordering i never saw her again until about 20 mins AFTER I was done eating. You can also tell its dirty. Yes the bar is old but i have 0 doubt they have bugs here. It is what it is. Excellent burger though!

We have been exploring locations that are new to us. On Tuesday, the 31st of May, we went to the Red Door Tavern. The Red Door is more a neighborhood place than a classic dive bar. Parking is at the rear of the building, as is a really nice patio. On the back of the building is the “Red Door .”The menu is pretty extensive, and they have a daily special. Tuesdays, the special was a meatloaf dinner. We ordered a French Dip and a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. The sandwiches came with the chips, but I substituted onion rings. The shredded beef in the French dip was moist and favorable. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was not overly spicy or messy and came with crumbled blue cheese. The onion rings were a suitable porion. The rings were crisp on the outside and moist and favorable on the inside; in other words, just right.
We were experiencing our first trip to the Red Door Tavern, but this is on our return to list. Service was fast, and the server was attentive without hovering. They had a good selection of pies, but by then, we were stuffed.
We went to the Red Door again on Tuesday, October 1. We were surprised that they were busy this early in the week, but the service was very fast. We seated ourselves, and our server was right there with menus and tool drink orders. I ordered a medium-rare cheeseburger, and my wife asked for Italian beef without peppers. We shared an order of sweet potato fries. Our dinner was out quickly and was exactly like what we ordered. My Burger was substantial and delicious. My wife felt the same way I did. This is a neighborhood place with great food and an extensive menu. They also have a nightly special. A little on the dive bar side pulse, they have an oversized patio on the back.

Rediscovering Red Door Tavern after a long while was a decision that left us absolutely delighted. Starving and in search of a satisfying meal, this tavern was a reminder of how a spontaneous dining choice can turn into a wonderfully memorable experience.
The ambiance of Red Door Tavern immediately enveloped us in its cozy and inviting atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that feels both familiar and exciting, perfect for unwinding after a busy day.
Our server was a standout aspect of our visit. With their attentive and kind approach, they ensured our dining experience was exceptional. It’s a rare joy to encounter service that makes you feel genuinely cared for, and our server at Red Door Tavern did just that.
As for the meal, the burger and beer were simply fantastic. The burger was a masterclass in flavor and juiciness, satisfying our hunger beyond expectations. Paired with a perfectly chilled beer from their impressive selection, it was the epitome of a classic, comforting tavern meal.
Though I noticed the iconic red door was no longer part of the entrance, the essence of what makes Red Door Tavern a special place still shines through in its warm hospitality and delicious food.
In sum, our visit to Red Door Tavern was a wonderful experience. It’s a place where great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere come together to create a dining experience that’s hard to beat. Whether you’re a regular or just passing through, Red Door Tavern is sure to impress. I’m eagerly looking forward to returning!
