I was a tourist in NOLA strolling through the Garden District when I was drawn in by the beautiful tables set up outside this restaurant. What really caught my attention, though, was a menu item I had never tried before: green fried tomatoes. As a tourist, my curiosity got the best of me, so I decided to walk in.
I was warmly greeted by Jasmine, who kindly showed me the different seating options — a lovely back section, the front dining area, and the patio outside.
My server, Dominique, was absolutely wonderful. She was very friendly, easy to talk to, and made the whole lunch experience even better. We had a great conversation about local traditions, history and cuisine, and it was clear she was very knowledgeable and genuinely passionate. A fantastic conversationalist!
For drinks, I ordered their Bloody Caesar, cleverly named “Hair of the Red Dog” — such a cute and fitting name. And of course, I had to try the fried green tomatoes. They were absolutely delicious and lived up to the hype.
A big thank you to Jasmine and Dominique for such a great experience and amazing food. Wishing you all the best — I’ll definitely remember this meal fondly!
The interior is cozy and modern. There is a countertop with the round stools. The lighting fixtures are modern but have that antique feel.
We had wonderful service from the moment we walked in through the time we were leaving.
The deviled eggs are delicious. You get them loaded with the filling. You also get their house-made bread and butter pickles.
If you are looking for a spot with wonderful food and service that is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, head to Red Dog.
We ordered the brisket omelette and it was next-level fantastic. Our bartender was awesome, the hurricane cocktail was delicious, and bonus points for clean bathrooms (always appreciated ). The menu has tons of variety at really fair prices. Safe to say—this place earned a repeat visit. We’ll definitely be back!
