My friend and I went to this place because it was just across the street from Hyatt Place where we stayed (we didn’t want to walk far because it was freezing), and we were glad we did. It was about 8 PM on a Tuesday night, and the place was busy. Luckily there was a table for us.
We ordered the sashimi dinner and Fallen Apple (one of their seasonal rolls) plus warm sake to share, and they were all high quality – very good!
For dessert, I had cheesecake + sorbet and my friend had the flourless chocolate cake, and we both enjoyed it. Our server, Emilie, was also very nice.
I’d go back to RED again next time!

Really exceptional bowl of chirashi. You have to look a bit to find this on their menu but it’s there…just a bit buried. That’s not really a surprise as I consider chirashi to be the hidden secret on a quality sushi places’ menu. No exception this time!
Everything was nice and fresh plus the assortment was great! I enjoyed being able to note the differences between 3 different varieties of tuna. I really enjoyed the pairing of the salmon roe with the snapper and found the salmon to be melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Seared albacore was really tasty as well. Best bite of the night? The big eye tuna. I generally prefer bluefin but had both side-by-side and enjoyed the big eye piece more.
Rice under the lettuce threw me a little but I guess that was the chef’s attempt to segment the dish a bit. I tossed the lettuce aside and enjoyed the balance of the dish, including the assortment of vegetables as well.
Chirashi is a great way to go if you’re really just interested in the fish. The tables around me were heavily laden with trays and platters full of rolls that just oozed ingredients all over. I’m a bit more of a purist and really enjoyed the chirashi but I would guess their rolls are pretty fantastic as well, if that’s your thing.

This place probably serves the best sushi rolls in the area. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was fantastic. The drinks were impressive as well; the Old Fashioned was especially good, and the Irish Coffee was enjoyable too. The grilled oysters were spectacular, and all the sushi rolls were delightful. The rice was a bit too sticky during this visit, but that seemed to be a one-time issue. Overall, we had a lovely dining experience and highly recommend it!

Went for a birthday celebration after spotting their sushi class a few months ago and finally decided to visit. The menu is all apps and sushi (both raw and cooked).The short rib dumplings were packed with flavor, and the Super Volcano roll was a hit. Easy online booking, super friendly staff, and they even surprised us with complimentary lychee sorbet. Great first-time experience!

We were there a few months ago and had a very bad experience. The place is extremely noisy — the music is so loud you can barely hear the person sitting next to you and have to practically shout just to have a conversation.
The waiters barely pay attention to you, and when they do, the attitude makes you feel like you don’t matter, no matter how much you’re paying.
What really shocked me was when a man fainted and was clearly feeling very unwell. None of the staff reacted at all. Only people from another table seemed concerned, and a woman eventually called an ambulance. I honestly don’t understand this kind of attitude toward people.
We’re originally from Europe, and in most places there the staff would immediately react and help in a situation like this. Seeing everyone just ignore it was very disturbing.
The food is also not worth the price. You’re definitely better off going somewhere else.
The restaurant may look nice from the outside, but the atmosphere inside is terrible.

We are obsessed with this place. The food is stellar every time. The cocktails are a treat. The staff and service are phenomenal. Love sitting in the bar area; their new expansion is also beautiful! The recent menu updates are drool-worthy. Madison is lucky to have Red!

RED provided a nice meal. The sushi was not the best we’ve ever had, but the menu was varied and had nice options. The atmosphere was quite crowded, and they were very busy so it was a compacted feeling. Our service was great though! We’d like to go back sometime and try again as the sushi just was not worth what the high prices were in our opinion.

Loved our dinner at RED. We had the sushi and sashimi set dinners with the chef’s recommendations. Beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Very good, attentive and friendly service throughout. We had our baby son in a stroller next to our table on the outdoor section and that wasn’t an issue at all.
