We had passed this place many times over the years when we would go to Cleveland to visit some of the antique stores in the area. We are from Soddy Daisy and had never eaten here. I had seen good reviews from this place on Facebook. So, we decided to give it a try. Let me start by saying the service is very friendly and, on their game. Be prepared when you walk in because you will be ask breakfast or lunch. They have two different menus so figure out what you want before you go in, and yes, they serve breakfast all day. We decided on lunch. My wife got a chilidog with slaw and I got the hamburger with fries. Food was hot, fresh and came to the table rather quickly. The service continued to be great throughout the meal with asking how our meal was and refilling the drink glasses. Even struck up a conversation with I assume the owner who was doubling as our waiter. I can honestly say I really like to see this in restaurants, is someone who gets involved in their own business. Do yourself a favor and visit the Rebel Drive-in Restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
To the owners, thank you for a great meal and great service. We will be back!

I wish we had had same great experience with “friendly staff” as I’ve read now in some of the reviews.

We were traveling back to NC and decided to go the “northern route” through TN instead of through Atlanta. When we came up to Cleveland, we thought it would be fun to get off the interstate and check out what Cleveland had to offer – we wanted local flavor and not a big chain.

We drove by Rebel Drive-In and thought “this looks like a great local place!”. The sign said that they were open until 2pm. We walked in the restaurant at 1:30.

You know how you get a vibe when you walk in a place? Well, the vibe we got was “we don’t want you here.” We asked if they were still serving lunch and were curtly told “if you hurry up and sit down.”

The gentleman who brought us menus didn’t smile and acted like we were a problem. We were very aware of the time (and the fact that we were being treated as a problem) … so we ordered simple food (a hamburger, sandwich — nothing elaborate at all).

Right after we ordered, I noticed another car drive up with 4 people in it — this was probably 1:40. The gentleman who was waiting our table immediately went out to the parking lot – I don’t know what was said to them, but they got in the car and left. I get it — maybe they really were too late to get served. But what I do know is what a very loud woman in the kitchen area was saying — she was making fun of the people and saying “they should go somewhere like Cracker Barrel.”

The food itself was good. But again served with no smile and the attitude of “we don’t want you in here.”

When we left, the gentleman rang us out. We tried to make small talk, but again was met with an attitude. Us: “Y’all must have been here really early today.” Him: “Why? Were you here?”

I get it … everyone one (and places) can have a bad and off day. But wow — this was next level rudeness. If Rebel Drive-In doesn’t want to serve people starting at 1:30, then post it on the door or change the sign out front. Maybe they have enough business that they don’t have to care. Maybe the people in Cleveland TN are used to this.

I had a sausage cheese omelet with hashbrowns and homemade biscuit. It was very good. Will go back and try other menu items. Update-had 3 eggs soft scrambled, crispy bacon, home fries and toast. Those were the best eggs. Perfectly cooked. Everything else was also delicious. This is my Saturday breakfast place. Everyone is very friendly.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for almost 30 years. I got to try it today. The meatloaf was dry. The mashed potatoes were ok in flavor but had so many pieces of potato skin in it, I just couldn’t. The pinto beans tasted like burnt leftovers. The only redeeming item was the banana pudding
