Wow, my husband and I were looking for somewhere to get an authentic Chicago dog and stumbled upon Rays Place. This food is delicious! Ray’s Place ATL got ’em!! The mild sauce is sooooooooo good, ask for extra!! Us Chicagoland area folks like sauce through the tips and on the fries. I added more sauce on the fries after pic.

The Chicago style hotdog and fries were both cooked and seasoned to perfection and the meals are budget friendly. The establishment was very clean and the staff was welcoming. I’ll definitely be returning to try the alfredo tacos and more from the menu.

Updated review 6/1/2025: My 94 year old Southern grandmother approved of the Chicago style fried catfish so I came back yesterday to get some more for her and myself. I also tried their whole fried wings this time and wow they were great! Super crispy on the outside but so moist and juicy on the inside. The owner remembered me from my first visit a couple weeks ago. They truly are the nicest people. Please go try their food!!!
Original review: We tried Ray’s Place for the first time today and it did not disappoint! We ordered some catfish fillets with fries and coleslaw to try. The catfish dredge was seasoned well. The fish was cooked to perfection. It was moist and flaky on the inside while being golden brown and slightly crunchy on the outside. The pieces of catfish were also a very good size and thickness. The fries were cooked well also. The coleslaw had a great taste, but I wish it had a finer shred. Some pieces of cabbage were very large and crunchy. But overall it had a nice tang and I appreciated the added red bell pepper which made it unique. We met the owner and two of her sons AND two of her grandsons! It truly is a family business and I hope you will give them a try like we did. They were all so friendly and inviting. The owner gave us some extra sauces just to try out! We will definitely be back to try other items like their fried chicken, rib tips, chicken wings, salmon bites and gyros. I remember when this used to be a barbecue restaurant and they have completely renovated the inside. They have a small stage where they told us they plan to do karaoke. There is also a small bar inside, but they are a family restaurant. They have only been open about two months, so things are still getting set up for events like karaoke we were told. Today they had beautiful fresh flowers on each of the tables in the dining area. Try this place out and help support a local family owned business!

The bbq was good but the ribs weren’t as tender as I’d like. The portion for the sides and catfish nuggets were a bit unreasonable and unsatisfying. I got one piece of catfish and a small handful of fries. And the price was around 20$The catfish nuggets were a nice texture but a bit over salted too.

Family owned business, very friendly staff and atmosphere!!! I enjoyed a drink while I waited they had 5$ shots of a few drinks like margarita/Lemon drop drink was pretty good as well. I checked this place out after my brother told me about it!!! I can definitely say they will be getting some more of my money!!! They Alfredo chicken tacos are absolutely awesome! The Mexican corn is one of its own after speaking with the Bartender Kamea she explained the cook not sure who the fellow is but compliments to the chef !!! Look forward to trying the rest of the menu… I also saw they had BBQ Rib tips!!! A must try for a reasonable price.

I really enjoyed the fried chicken. Its was freshly cooked. Which they state all menu items are cooked fresh. The chicken was seasoned well and went well with the Chicago seasoning. The street corn was good as well. I had their mac n chees it was decent better than most places tho. Definitely give them a try. The also offer line dancing on Friday’s and on Saturday’s they dance. Great Chicago restaurant. I look forward to trying more menu items. You can also dine in or takeout. Wait time was 15 minutes for food.
