I want to start by saying I was not expecting Michelin-level service, and I am by far not a picky eater. I also don’t walk into restaurants expecting top-notch service every single time. But what we experienced here was beyond disappointing.

We arrived for breakfast around 10:30 a.m. as a party of four and were told the wait would be about 15 minutes. We ended up waiting over an hour. That was just the beginning.

Once we were finally seated and placed our order, the food took an incredibly long time to come out. The coffee we were served was extremely cold. We had to flag down a waiter just to ask for a cup, and instead of bringing a simple empty cup like we requested, he brought one filled with ice. We repeatedly clarified that we just needed a cup, but he never corrected it. Eventually, I had to get up myself, walk to the bar, and grab my own cup and straw because the service was practically nonexistent.

To make matters worse, I ordered mixed beef and chicken fajitas. What arrived looked like a plate of onions and vegetables with barely any meat. It was completely misleading and honestly unacceptable.

This was by far the worst food and service we have ever received. Extremely disappointing from start to finish.

We will start with the food, because that is usually what people are looking for. The chips and salsa was good. The salsa had all the flavors you would expect from onions, tomato and peppers, but it also had a balanced heat, not too hot and not too tame.
I ordered the Machaca Con Huevos and from the picture you can tell it was pretty impressive. The mixture of peppers, onion and egg was just right with a generous portion of Machaca mixed in. The flour tortillas that came with the meal were very thin and I was suspicious whether they would hold up to the task, but their elasticity and strength were epic. The tortillas definitely rate in my top 10 as best tortillas. They add a perfect amount of starch without overpowering the meal and their functionality, holding food, was up to the task.
The coffee was also good and got me going for my day.
The staff was very helpful. I was greeted when I walked in and my server, Mara, took me back almost immediately. She got my drink order and took my food order when she served my drinks. She was personable and conversational, but she also left me in peace to eat my meal. Before the end of my meal she offered to top off my drink and her service was very good.
The atmosphere is what I was looking for. This is very much a local family-owned business. I was looking for a place to take me back home to Texas and it did just that. The food was a little different, but as stated above, the experience was amazing. It helped that my server was wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years since I was a child but it seems that it has changed. The food isn’t as good as it used to be. And the service has slumped over the years, but it still brings back good memories from my childhood so i will continue to come back now and again. my biggest complaint is that the restaurant was fairly empty and I still had to wait 20 minutes to get seated then 20 minutes before i ordered my drinks you can do better

A humble and honest family-owned restaurant with a Tex-Mex style Mexican food restaurant.

There is plenty of seating so big crowds is welcomed and they have a variety of food from breakfast combos Mexican and American, soups like menuso and shrimp soup, Plus typical steak dinners as well.
There is also a bar so you have your many beers on tap and mixed drinks.

The food was good. It’s a great local try!

I’ve been dining at R & T’s since the 70’s. Absolutely hands down authentic Mexican food delicious and hot. Stay away from the pricy franchises. They have nothing over Raul and Theresa’s.

First time to the Avondale location! Very cute restaurant but that’s all that was good! No one was at the front to greet us. After we were seated it was at least 10min before anyone came to our table. Ordered our drinks took 10 more minutes to get them. We pretty much spent more time waiting than eating. We ordered our food the waitress didn’t put in one of our plates, so we had to wait longer for that plate. Unfortunately the wait was not worth it! The food was horrible, bland NO flavor.. very sad as we heard nothing but good things. Not worth the wait or the money spent. Very disappointing as we love the Goodyear location!

Came to eat at Raul and Theresa. They charge 24 for tip when our waitress never came to check on us. I had to go get the hot sauce in the kitchen. My party never got refill. All they know how to say I am sorry. Our food was so late everyone that got there got their food first.

We had a large group (21) for a weeknight dinner. Of course we called ahead the day before. Our table was ready when we arrived.
Our server did a great job, and the food came out all at once yet somehow still hot! It tasted great too.
Definitely a gem.

The food was really good and the portions were big, definitely better than some on the mexican food in the area. The fajitas were on point, and vegetables were perfectly sautéed. My wife’s enchilada and carne asada taco we’re absolutely perfectly cooked oh and the salsa yeah it was just right. Definitely try them out if you haven’t already.

What a fun atmosphere! Very tasty and well-prepared food! Loved every bite! The staff was amazing, the food came out very quickly! The prices are just right in these lovely tariffed times. Will go back the next time I want a “cheat day”!
