We stopped by for a late lunch on a Saturday and were promptly seated on the outdoor patio. The setting is pleasant, relaxed, and welcoming, making it a nice place to linger. We enjoyed a Warsteiner Pilsner, a consistently excellent beer from a family brewery in central Germany and a fitting choice for the menu.

I ordered the Jäger Schnitzel, which was very well prepared and generously portioned, accompanied by roasted Brussels sprouts (excellent) and roasted potatoes with bacon. The schnitzel itself was thin, nicely cooked, and had a satisfying crunch, topped with a flavorful mushroom gravy. My only note is that while the gravy was quite good, it wasn’t fully traditional German in that it lacked the subtle wine note found in the Jäger schnitzel we’ve had in Germany.

My partner had the goulash, which was also well made and enjoyable, though it didn’t quite reach the deep, rich complexity of some more authentic versions we’ve experienced. Service was attentive and friendly throughout. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant as one of the few places in the area offering genuinely good German food in a pleasant atmosphere.

Fabulous atmosphere, especially during the month of Oktoberfest celebrations! The selection of German (and Austrian, Czech and Hungarian, to name a few) beers are plentiful so it’s hard to choose! Service was great, with our server checking in on us every 10 minutes or so despite it being quite busy as you’d expect on a Saturday night, and the food was absolutely delicious and authentic. As close to German as you can get without actually going to Germany. I definitely will be returning!

Lively Saturday night made for a festive atmosphere. Schnitzel month! Had Whiskey Schnitzel with the vegan Schnitzel. Came with 2 sides and I can’t pass up spatzle and had cucumber dill salad. Whiskey cream sauce was delicious. Spatzle was good, but I prefer a bit more butter..( wasn’t dry though, which it can get.) the Whiskey sauce went quite well with it! Also had the pickled veggies… good and pickled.

This place is easily my top pick in California right now. The food is absolutely incredible: rich flavors, hearty portions, and everything feels made with care. Whether you’re going for schnitzel, sausages, German classics, or something lighter like a salad or appetizer, you really can’t go wrong here. This is the kind of place where I find myself recommending everything on the menu.

One dish I especially loved was the Goulash – beef stew with carrots and potatoes, served with homemade spätzle. It’s hearty and flavorful but not like a soup and yet not greasy at all. In fact, what I really appreciate about this place is that the food isn’t oily or heavy, and it doesn’t leave that unpleasant “junk food” aftertaste. Everything feels clean and satisfying.

The atmosphere is another highlight: cozy, not loud, and perfect for a relaxing evening. We came on a Saturday night and the place was packed, so I definitely recommend making a reservation in advance.

Here’s a quick summary of the prices by category:

Schnitzel (includes 2 sides):

Drinks:

Draft Beers (0.3L / 0.5L / 1L):
– Around $7.5 / $17.5 / $33
– Kölsch Kranz (11 small pours): $34
– Das Boot (2L): $33–34

Bottled Beers & Ciders:
– $6 to $13
– Good German selection (Weihenstephaner, Ayinger, etc.)

Wines:

This place is such a gem. Cozy yet lively atmosphere, extensive beer list, thoughtful menu (even vegan options), and everything we’ve tried has been consistently excellent. Highly recommend it for anyone in SoCal!

Me and my partner come here if not every week, every other week. In the past, the vegan schnitzel was to die for, quite literally the BEST thing I’ve ever had in the long beach area, until today. I’m not sure if they got a new chef or changed up the recipe, but the meal today was a huge disappointment. Maybe the meal would have been okay if it was my first time here, but I know the quality of their food and this experience had me close to tears. maybe this was just a rough day for them? I will try my favorite meal again next week to see if it’s returned to all it glory and deliciousness.

11/12 update – vegan schnitzel still isn’t like it was before. The recipe was updated again, and its not good.

Seen this German Restaurant a good few times driving by and dining in at the Ramen spot next door.
Decided to come with the family and check them out.

The food was cooked to perfection, their beer was very delightful and great to the taste.

We started out with their signature Bavarian Pretzel served with their homemade sweet mustard and obatzda which was absolutely delicious.

Wifey ordered an Erdinger Dunkelweizen which was a pleasant experience and tantalizing to the taste buds.
She ordered a sausage plate which came with traditional Bratwurst and
cheddar wurst. Included with the plate was a side of mash potatoes and their classic sauerkraut.

I got their Jäger Schnitzel which came with a wild mushroom sauce, seasoned fries, and brussel sprouts.

And our daughter got her plain hamburger which came on a brioche bun.
Oh my gosh the food was so delicious and amazing here.

The restaurant is clean, organized, and has excellent service. Our server was welcoming, professional, and very accommodating. Their staff was very helpful as well.

Rasselbock gets a 5 star ⭐ rating hands down and all around from me in this one!

I definitely want to come back and try more items on the menu.

Got together with a great friend and his family to enjoy good beers and great food at a local spot in Long Beach. It was my first time there and everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

The staff made sure we didn’t have to wait to be served and they provided great recommendations and which beers they paired well with. Yet another spot that’s on my list of go to places I will definitely come back to soon.

If you are looking for great food, great beer and a welcoming environment, look no further than Rasselbock Kitchen & Beer.

Tried something new this Wednesday (01/28/26) and couldn’t be happier that I did. Rasselbock Kitchen & Beer Garden delivered on every level. The food was amazing, the appetizers were outstanding, and the beer—oh my goodness—the beer was soooo good. What really stood out, though, was the service: friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. You can feel the great energy the moment you walk in. Safe to say, I’ll be back for more very soon!
