I finally made it over to Rapids Cafe (formerly Grandma’s USA Cafe), and let me tell you, Central Wisconsin Grub has found a gem. This was my first time visiting this local staple, and it definitely won’t be my last.
Despite there being only one other table when I arrived, the atmosphere was exactly what you want in a hometown diner—quiet, clean, and welcoming. The kitchen didn’t miss a beat; our entire spread was on the table in under 15 minutes.

The Wisconsin Omelet & Hashbrowns: This is the heavyweight champion of breakfast. It is absolutely packed with a savory mix of green peppers, onions, tomatoes, and mushrooms, plus a triple-threat of ham, sausage, and bacon. As if that wasn’t enough, it’s loaded with both Cheddar and American cheese, then finished with a thick, beautifully melted layer over the top. It’s hearty, fresh, and exactly what a Wisconsin omelet should be.
Stuffed French Toast with Strawberries: If you’re looking for a “treat yourself” breakfast, this is it. The French toast was thick-cut and golden, absolutely smothered in a vibrant strawberry glaze and massive peaks of whipped cream. It’s a heavy-hitter for anyone with a sweet tooth.
