We stopped here on our way from our small town of Wendell, NC to visit family in Greenville, SC. It is a classic Southern diner experience in every sense. The food is home cooked, hot, and made to order. Portions are generous and the prices are a great value. The sweet tea is exactly how your grandma makes it, sweet enough to rival hummingbird food.
We ordered cheeseburgers and fries, fried okra, hush puppies, a meat and three plate with BBQ, slaw, and mac and cheese, along with fried chicken livers and a hamburger steak with corn fritters and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes tasted like real potatoes. Nothing tasted canned or mass produced. The only exception was the mac and cheese. It was fine, but compared to how fresh and thoughtfully cooked everything else was, you could tell it was not the slow baked, casserole style mac and cheese that would have matched the rest of the meal.
The staff was friendly and accommodating, which mattered even more since we have a large family with five children. Finding seating can be a challenge, especially at lunchtime, but they happily helped us find a spot in an already full restaurant. It truly felt like the whole town was there for lunch. Even the sheriff was eating a few tables over.
If you are looking for a down home, genuinely Southern meal, this place is worth a stop. Be sure to save room for the pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. It was delicious.

The Asheboro location was not good. No crust on chicken pie, it was very soupy.

Just happened to drop in to Randys on a roadtrip today – what a great find. Incredibly diverse menu, and everything we had was excellent, very affordable. Teamwork-type service meant that we never had to wait for anything. Great country cooking. Going to seek this place out on future trips.

Randy’s Restaurant (located on HWY 64) – GREAT FOOD CHOICES! Reasonably priced and sometimes portions are not as you would expect.
You can spend as much or little as you want to..
Waitresses are pretty attentive to customers.. Checking to see if you need anything etc..
super friendly group of young ladies working here.
Take time to share a smile with them..
Randy does Offer DAILY SPECIALS & kids plates.
They have the BEST HOMEMADE MEATLOAF IN LEXINGTON.
Only negative would be EXAMPLE: (ALWAYS DELICIOUS & HOMEMADE FROM DRIED PINTO BEANS ) Obviously plate won’t hold but maybe 4 or 5 bites… it would be best to serve those in a small soup bowl..
Clean – new remodeling going.. has curbside pickup..
WE LOVE EATING HERE…

Randy’s is one of those special gems in a small area, but you can tell by the packed parking lot that there’s something great about them. I’ve never had a bad experience here, be it takeout or dine in. A few days ago, some friends and I went for lunch. Even though the restaurant was very busy, the service was impeccable. Our drinks were never less than half full. Our server checked in with us constantly. Everyone was very friendly. Despite the lunch rush, our food (for a large party, too) was out quickly and was fantastic. Their BBQ is delicious, and the portion they give you is enough to feed two people – for a very reasonable price, especially considering what some other restaurants in the Lexington area like to charge by comparison. I have literally never had better coleslaw than theirs, and the baked beans are incredible, too. Their salads are also excellent and humongous. If you’ve never been to Randy’s, and love good Southern style diner fare, this place is a must. Love them!

When ever we are in Lexington we love to eat at Randy’s, can’t wait for their Asheboro location to open. I just hope they bring the same food, prices, and service with them.
