Instead of the cavalcade of cafés in my San Francisco neighborhood, we encountered a General Store. It felt like we were two cowboys walking into a Western film—a place with no proper names. I half expected signs reading Barber, Dry Cleaner, Saloon, High School, Dentist. Singular nouns, not plural—simple and sane. We should have eaten there, but instead we used it as reconnaissance, surveying what might generously be called “Downtown.”

Great local spot that’s hosted many many entertainers from far and wide. Once again we visited last night for dinner and a show featuring Todos Santos. It was perfect in every way. Sunday night, show started early in the evening which is perfect for the last weekend hours. Full menu offered sandwiches to steaks and all quite tasty. We were served dinner quickly and with reasonable prices as we watched the very talented trio. Some guests danced which was lovely. Thank you for a memorable evening.

I’ve stopped in Rancho Nicasio Restaurant and Bar a handful of times over the years, and the back outdoor area is awesome during the summer with live music and great food. I haven’t had dinner inside yet, but I have been to the bar several times, and it’s fantastic—lots of old records from bands on the walls and a great atmosphere.

On my last visit, I had a beer and ordered some oysters on the half shell. When they came out, they were room temperature and had quite a few broken shells mixed in. Before I even said anything, the bartender noticed something wasn’t right and asked about it. I explained the situation, and she immediately took them back and didn’t charge me. I really appreciated the attentive service.

This place has a great vibe, friendly staff, and is definitely worth checking out—especially in the summer!

Rancho Nicasio is such a cool place. It’s so much fun to sit at a picnic table under the redwoods and enjoy the breeze, take in the sights and sounds, savior the food & drinks, and converse with friends and family. Kids can explore the grounds, respectfully, giving the adults time to settle in. I love their sandwiches on their Dutch crunch bread! And give it a go for brunch!

The perfect dinner stop on the way home after spending a day enjoying nature in Point Reyes! We enjoyed fresh Tamales Bay oysters, melted Nicasio cheese, fish tacos, ribs, and mudpie. The space is spacious with a bar, indoor, and outdoor seating plus space for events. We also saw a schedule for live music! The service was excellent – very welcoming and warm without being too much.

A Ride Through Time in Nicasio

Took a ride out to Nicasio—a quiet little town that feels like it’s frozen in time. Just a small post office, some cows roaming the fields, and that classic white church that had us wondering if it was the one from November Rain. Whether it was or not, it had that same timeless vibe.

The roads in? Absolutely made for motorcycles—winding, smooth, and surrounded by rolling green hills that beg you to slow down and take it all in.

We landed at Rancho Nicasio for lunch, with outdoor seating tucked beneath towering redwoods and surrounded by wildflowers and open skies. Oysters and chowder were a must, and even the local cat came by for a visit—naturally, we shared a few bites.

It was exactly what we needed. A little reset. Some quiet time. Just me and the wifey soaking it all in.

Funny how a simple day like that can leave the biggest

the food was good. the highlight of my visit had to be the appetizers. my table got chicken wings and calamari they were both nicely seasoned and i asked for extra crispy on the wings. the sauce had great flavor and tasted homemade. i got the rancho burger which was okay. pretty plain burger and the fries were really greasy and ended up really upsetting my stomach but that’s person to person so id recommend giving this place a try!

We went for a concert. It was a beautiful day outside in the middle of nowhere. Good sound, spacious, and intimate. A BBQ on the lawn. I’m vegan, so I do not get into that meat food, sorry..but, the kale salad was so delicious I could of eaten two of them.. Glad I’m going again this weekend for more music in the summer.

Given there are not many places you can eat around this area, this restaurant is a fine option to satiate hunger. Surprisingly a lot of options to choose from and the food is good. Quick service, reasonably priced. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. However only a few designated parking spots are available, but lots of roadside parking.

What a great place to enjoy a dish of well prepared, good old-fashioned, meatloaf and mashed potatoes! No ketchup on top, real potatoes and yummy, well seasoned, fall veggies. AND a fresh fruit cobbler desert! So good!! Also enjoyed some great live music in a small venue. Couldn’t have asked for a better Saturday night!
