Moved to Oceanside from Los Angeles and have been searching for a great Mexican restaurant in my area. Haven’t found one that is my go to like the many I have back in LA; however, I’ve finally found the one!
Rancho El Agave has a superb and inviting authentic Mexican atmosphere. The staff was great, the food delicious, and the drinks strong! I’ve found my go to spot! Not to mention, the night I went was live music as well.

If you’re looking for a good atmosphere, definitely check this place out.
I always walk past this place and wanted to stop in yesterday – my husband and I met with some friends for lunch.
I really enjoyed the overall ambiance of the place. They seem to always have live music whenever I’m in the area, and the patio seating is quaint and the shrubbery in the back makes it a nice enclosed place.
I think the breakfast selections were priced pretty well – but most of the lunch/dinner menu items were overpriced. $22 for a sandwich or 2 tacos is a lot.
Speaking of – the restaurant may want to update their online menu. I went in with the menu items / pricing in mind so finding out everything was $5-10 more than what was listed was a bit surprising.
Overall a good place to check out – will be back for the music, but probably wouldn’t eat there again.

The food here never disappoints. Hubby had steak and he he says it was dinner perfectly. My salmon was deeelish! Service and atmosphere always great. Of course, to top it all, the Urban Gypsy band led by Mychael Moaze provides fantastic entertainment. Looking forward to another visit even though it is a long drive for us.
Update 1/21/23: Had the monster wet burrito which is still as good as the first time I had it. A little spicy, lots of delicious Carne asada and guac. Finished with the churro and Ice cream. All that while enjoying some really great music from Urban Gypsys.
Update 6/10/23: Back for some good music, and the food never disappoints. Started with the happy hour loaded nachos and cocktail. For dinner it was Carne asada tacos this time. I was a little hesitant at first but as usual, this place doesn’t disappoint. Not a fan of hard taco shells but this is slightly crisp, yet not crunchy hard. Hard to describe but deeelish!. Had white choc cheesecake for dessert which was lovely.
Update 11/11 : The roasted beet salad be carrot cake, both are so so good. The salad is tangy and fresh with crunchy walnuts. I am not a fan of normal carrot cake but this carrot cake is good, not ridiculously sweet, light but flavorful.
Music as always is great!

Came here for the first time and the staff were very friendly and kind. The plates are quite big and very well worth the price. My favorite was their Wet Burrito and the Quesadilla!

If you’re looking for somewhere new to eat I definitely recommend coming here. It’s a very lovely place. From the staff to the atmosphere it’s self. The food was delicious and the tequila was great. This place was great date night place. We spent our 9th anniversary here. The food was amazing. The staff treated us amazing. The pear Flatbread tasted so savory. The steak was cooked well and the vegetables were so tender. They also had live music which was so great for a date night.

I’ve gone twice since the change in ownerships. The staff is great, even when the restaurant is seriously busy they do their best to make you feel welcome. The food was great, the drinks were fantastic, and dessert was a delicious mess. I’m ready to try Karoake Thursdays!

Came here for lunch. My husband had the lobster club sandwich and I had the crab sandwich, we also ordered the onion rings for appetizer. The onion rings were okay but the sandwiches were good, very fresh and tasty. Service was friendly and attentive.
