We had such an enjoyable lunch here.

We arrived early on a Tuesday and checked out the small gift shop after giving our name to the hostess.

We then listened to the hostess rant on about all sorts of personal matters until the restaurant opened, including every shade of hair dye she has apparently ever had and her date the night before, so much so that she didn’t realize the restaurant had opened. Her attitude was the only negative part of our experience.

We then were seated in the greenhouse area. Eluvina was our waitress and she was so friendly and hospitable, taking such great care of us! The other waitresses also seemed great!

We shared the combination picante/spicy and really enjoyed it, especially the cheese enchiladas and the sopapillas

Highly recommend!

Revered local institution with deep roots in the community. Every visit is a step back in time, and the friendly staff members are happy to point out historic details and recount legendary stories. // The sopapiallas are top-notch.//Be sure to make time for the gift shops. Gallery owner Joseph Sisneros is a font of information about the arts and crafts of the area.

Amazing place with outstanding food. The adovado was the star. The tamales and blue corn enchiladas were runners up as was the sopapillas and honey.

Food and drinks were amazing! Highly recommend for anyone stopping or staying in Chimayo. This was truly a hidden gem and glad my husband and I got to experience the true flavors of NM! I ordered the Carne Adovada (pork in red Chile sauce) and a cinnamon apple flavored margarita (forgot the name) but both were yummy. Loved the little gift shop as well.

Very good American-Mexican food and really great and friendly service. We bought the Rancho de Chimayó receipe cookbook and we hope we can make as good plates as the ones we had for diner. The prices are correct. Special mention for the wines.

This hidden gem of a restaurant is a must-visit for tourists seeking authentic New Mexican cuisine. While it’s located off the beaten path, it’s surprisingly popular. The restaurant offers traditional dishes and also sells the spices they use, with their green sauce spice being a standout.
Service can be slow for large groups, but the waitstaff is knowledgeable and helpful, especially with vegetarian options. However, be aware that their sopapillas are cooked in the same oil as meat products. Despite this, the food is generally good, and they make a commendable effort to accommodate vegetarian preferences.
They also have a small store that sell their spices. Their prickly pear frozen lemonade is a must try

We ate here last weekend while in the area for a family reunion. My grandma grew up down the road in Nambe, so she and my grandpa have been eating here when they come to visit for decades. Our server was so friendly and welcoming. The food and environment is quintessentially New Mexico. I got the red chile enchiladas, of course! Don’t forget to stop into the little store for postcards to send to your friends, spices, etc.

We were excited to try this restaurant which was recommended to us by a local. The parking lot was easy to find parking in, the restaurant was moderately busy and we had a 20 minute wait for a table. We were seated on the patio where we waited another 20-30 minutes before a server ever came to our table. We saw lots of other tables with obvious locals being waited on quickly and those servers had a very welcoming demeanor to the locals. We were finally waited on by a barely polite waitress. The food arrived in a decent time frame and was at best average. Our waitress never returned to offer drink refills and finally returned stating she got busy and then offered drinks to go which we declined as there was no point after sitting through our meal in dire need of a refill. The most attentive the waitress had been the entire meal was when she hovered anxiously to see what we were going to tip her for her utterly lousy service. Such high hopes for a good experience at this restaurant were completely dashed after this visit. Definitely would not recommend spending your money here. It seemed to be a place that is selective about whom receives good or welcoming service based on whether you are local in this community.
