Best chicken fried steak I ever had ! Out sightseeing for the day and stopped in Rancho for dinner as we passed thru Roma. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Our first visit but we treated as if we were regulars. The menu is loaded with close to 100 items to choose from, definitely something for everyone. Sweet tea was just right after a hot day and came with a large frosty carafe to refill from. The meal started with tortilla chips and a vegetable soup that was delicious. Others in our group were very happy with their taco dinners. I went with the chicken fried steak and was very glad I did. Super large portion of exceptionally tender meat, but the highlight was the breading. Extremely crispy, yet light and airy. Even the tasty gravy didn’t turn it soggy and although it took a while to eat one that large, it stayed light and crispy to the last bite. Honestly the best chicken fried steak I’ve had. Looking forward to returning for a meal the next time I visit the RGV.

I absolutely love good Tex-Mex food and, Tex-Mex at Rancho Café is as good as it gets! I had number 70, Mexican dinner, two enchiladas, Chalupa, taco, rice and beans. My sweet waitress threw in Menudo and a complementary piece of pumpkin pie. My “glass“ of iced tea was perfectly brewed and came in a gigantic beer mug. If I lived here, I would eat there every single day!

Excellent service. I love the country feeling and the decorations. I had the chicken fried chicken, and when I asked for a steak knife, I was told that the chicken was tender so that I didn’t need one, but the other male guests who ordered the same did receive a knife. It also felt a little hot and humid. Other than everything else was great! Maybe next time, I hope to update my 4-star review to a 5.

This place has the nicest waiters, good food, a really decorated interior, and a pretty good vibe overall. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Allegedly, they have the best chili and even compete against a lot of different chili all around. Personally, I disagree on it being the best chili, I ordered the chili and cornbread once, and it was pretty bland, I added a lot of pepper and some salt. I will say, though, it’s a pretty big portion. I really recommend the chilaquiles rojos with some over medium eggs on top, though, really good flavor, and comes with cheese melted on top.

Nice place. But placed phone order. Gentleman said it would take 20 minutes. Got there 10 minutes later. None of the staff asked or even bothered approaching table. After another 20-25 minutes a customer told staff member I’d been waiting for a while. All staff is new & needs to trained properly.
Walked out after 30 minute wait without food. So can’t rate food.

We stopped here while traveling and it was early in the evening. We were the only ones there but had great service and the food was excellent. That was probably the best chicken fried steak I have had in a very long time. All the food we ordered was great. If I am ever back in Roma, definitely stopping here.
