A culinary institution South of Lexington, KY. Overall good food and selections are local childhood favorites like the navy bean soup and corn bread. The meal you see here is the Fried Chicken Breast ( deboned) with mashed potatoes- no gravy, add butter, cream corn ….which really was not with cream but with a clear corn oil, a corn bread fritter and some white pepper gravy ( not eaten). Hot chocolate and lemonade was ordered as bevarages. The hot chocolate was hot but tasteless….a packet mix no doubt. Lemonade was ok, but not from fresh lemons. Fried chicken was the best food portion present, then the mashed potatoes with real butter comes in second.

A dear friend of mine flew into Lexington for the weekend and we went to Ramsey’s for dinner last night (Sunday 2/15). He wanted to try a local place and I hadn’t been here in years, as I no longer live in Lexington.
We were promptly seated. The dining room itself was moderately noisy, as it was a holiday weekend and the back of house staff was rushing around getting things done. Our server Jill was over to see us in short order. She was so kind and friendly as I asked several questions about the drink specials and menu. My friend and I got our order together (we each had the Meat and Three), and Jill checked on us regularly while we were waiting for food. She kept our drinks filled and made sure we didn’t need anything. I really appreciate that she was attentive without being overwhelming or, to use one of my fav terms, vulturing.
Our order came out quicker than I expected. I wish I had remembered to take photos of the spread because there was so much food! There were a couple of errors with our sides, but Jill was quick to get what we needed. Her friendliness always shined through. The food itself was fantastic. We were pretty hungry so there was not much left for the to-go box.
To wrap the meal up, we each had a slice of pie. We were rather full but the flavor list was too good to pass up. The selling point too was Jill mentioning that their pies are made in a shop up the road named Missy’s, which is also owned by Ramsey’s, and they are brought in fresh daily. I highly recommend the butterscotch and pecan pies!
If you’re wanting some good home cooking in a friendly atmosphere, Ramsey’s is the place to go!

You won’t regret coming here! Best southern cooking ever! Got 5 meals to go. 5x meat with 3 sides. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Pot roast and glazed pork chops were stand outs. Mac n cheese, steamed cabbage, and apple fritters were great sides. Homemade pie was excellent too! Keylime and Mayhem (Derby) pie.

I had a great experience at Ramsey’s! The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was top-notch. Lisa took care of our table and was extremely polite and attentive the whole time. She also makes a fantastic Kentucky Mules one of the best I’ve had! I’ll definitely be coming back for both the food and the service.

This Ramsey’s Diner location was lovely! I’ve come here with my fiancé many times for date nights.
The location is definitely decorated in the diner-centric theme. There are plenty of fun signs and humorous decor. Our server was the loveliest and so attentive.
On our first visit it was very busy, and they forgot our appetizer order of buffalo wings and ranch. We politely pointed it out, and they brought the dish out speedily. Our server then told us it was on the house, and we really appreciated such a kind gesture!
I got their burger with mac ‘n’ cheese as a side, while my fiancé got their Hot Brown, also with mac ‘n’ cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious, hot and fresh! I’ve also gotten their Country Fried Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, which I think is my favourite!
They also serve desserts from a local, Kentucky Proud company, and their New York Cheesecake was hands down one of the BEST we’ve ever had. All of the pies they offer are the highest quality. We will definitely keep coming back here!

Food was delicious! The Yogi Chicken is so tender and moist. It has a wonderful flavor for grilled chicken. Also we had the grilled pork chops. These pork chops come already marinated in a red sauce. The Yogi chicken is always one of my picks when I eat here along with cream corn, green beans, and stewed tomatoes.

What a great diner, with mismatched chairs and tables, a great bar, and a good choice of food. I had to try the breakfast with all of that food for only $14.95 (yes, I did have 5 eggs)!! The Mrs had the skillet fried pork cutlet with slaw and beans. The couple with us had the pot roast with green beans and mashed potatoes and meatloaf with corn and carrots.

There was a mix up with our reservation and our party was overlooked. They immediately found us a table, despite the busyness. They were genuinely apologetic and continued to make it right without us even asking.
Our service was super friendly, helpful, and professional. I’ve been to Ramsey’s several times and have never had a poor experience with food –it’s always top notch. I especially like the pot roast and pork chops. Definitely will be back!
