We have been going to this restaurant on and off for a number of years now. We had out-of-town guests and Ram’s Head came to mind.
If you have not been to this restaurant before, it is located in historic Savage Mill among antique stores and small novelty shops. There usually is parking close to the entrance to Ram’s Head, but if not, there are additional spots a bit farther up the street. The restaurant itself spans three floors and offers table-service dining (indoor and outdoor, weather permitting), and a bar scene complete with darts and billiards.
We were given a warm welcome immediately once we entered the restaurant and were then escorted to our table that we had reserved on OpenTable. There are a few pages to the menu offering a great selection of appetizers, sandwiches and burgers, and full-portioned entrees. The service was prompt and friendly as well as helpful (we ask a lot of opinion questions about dishes we haven’t tried).
We ordered the Salmon, Reuben, pulled pork sandwich (see photos), as well as pizza and sliders from the kids menu. before our dinner came out, we started the evening with an order of pickle chips and brats covered with pretzel bread and a couple Fordham beers to wash it down! All of the food came out hot and smelling great! After all of the delicious food, we still had room to split and Maryland-style dessert: Smith Island Cake!
All in all, we had a great experience and look forward to the next time!
delicious–the Annapolis Benedict–which had 2 crab cakes served on top of English muffins topped with tomatoes, perfectly poached eggs, Hollandaise Sauce and Old Bay seasoning. All of our meals came with nicely fried potatoes and thinly sliced cantaloupe, honeydew and pineapple. Will definitely come back!
It was my first time there and when we arrived we were greeted by a nice gentleman and escorted to our table. We then had to wait to what seemed a little longer than usual, it was cool, then a guy stopped by at the table next to us and said he’ll be with us shortly, great! Although he never introduced himself and we didn’t know his name we were glad to get service — We then ordered some drinks and I went for the new drink they were promoting called “Mango cosmo” and… it was terrible, it was an $8 juice with barely any alcohol. Oh well, it was not the fault of the server. When he came back asking if I wanted another one, I just said “no, thanks” but my friend mentioned that it was apparently not strong, he didn’t say anything. Everything still ok-ish.
We ordered our food and it was brought by someone else. We had 2 burgers. We were expecting the usual “how is everything?” After being served so we can request ketchup but that didn’t come until I was done with my food (you can see the photo of me plate) — after that we just noticed that things were a bit off, the place was not busy and our server seemed to be walking around checking on others. He even came to introduce himself to a new group that arrived just next to our table and that seemed like a perfect moment to do a quick check to see if we needed soda refills, which I did. After that just getting the check and get him to take the card took forever that I must admit that by that moment I was not in a good mood anymore.
The food was great, I will admit that but the service was terrible, or we were just unlucky or who knows what.
