Overall, it was decent. The vibes were great, if I lived here I’d come with friends to drink and have some food on the side. Everything was a bit fattier/greasier than I’d prefer but good flavours and nothing was too salty. Probably perfect if you’re a bit tipsy and need something to soak up the alc.
Service was really warm and laidback, and I like that you order/pay online. Super easy for groups with the split bill option too. It was busy and lots of communal seating.
Standouts were the chicken karaage (really good crunch) and the Thank yuzu drink!! I HAAATE cilantro and it was actually sooooo tasty, might be the only application that I really enjoyed cilantro in.
The broth was rich with deep flavor from the 10-hour process. The karaage fried chicken was a welcome addition to the ramen bowl and while the kimchi was also great, there was surprisingly little of it. Still, I’m not complaining and I give this establishment 5 solid stars. I’m looking forward to returning and trying some of the sandwiches/buns and maybe the crab rangoon. Good grief I’m a sucker for crab rangoon haha.
Tried the Sake bombs too, which was fun.
The crab Rangoon was okay as well, but not really comparable with what you’re paying. Overall, it felt overpriced for the quality.
Service was okay. It was busy when I went, which may have played a role, but nothing really stood out either way.
The atmosphere was loud — it honestly felt more like a college party than a relaxed dinner spot. If you’re looking for a quieter place to enjoy ramen, this may not be it.
Overall, a disappointing experience for the price.
My wife absolutely loves ramen, it’s easily the dish I cook most often for her, so the bar was high. She was genuinely excited walking into Ramen-san on West Hubbard Street.
Thankfully, it delivered.
We started with bao buns: one pork belly, one crispy fried chicken. Both were exceptional. The buns were pillowy soft, the pork belly rich and tender with just the right balance of fat and sweetness, and the fried chicken version perfectly crisp without being greasy. Properly executed, not rushed, and packed with flavour.
Then came the ramen.
The 10-hour tonkotsu was everything you want from a slow-simmered broth, deep, silky, rich without being overpowering. You could taste the time and care in it. The kimchi & fried chicken ramen brought heat, crunch and acidity in all the right places. Bold, comforting and layered.
Both bowls felt authentic and thoughtfully built. No shortcuts. No bland broth. Just proper ramen.
Portion sizes were generous, the value was excellent, and our server was brilliant, attentive without hovering, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming.
The venue itself had a great vibe too, stylish but relaxed, lively without being chaotic.
When a ramen lover leaves happy, especially when her husband prides himself on making it at home, that’s a serious endorsement.
