I pulled up to Fish Man Seafood Market in Gary, Indiana ready for a feast… and what I experienced was nothing short of a seafood saga.
What you’re looking at in this picture isn’t just an empty tray.
It’s evidence.
Evidence that the food didn’t stand a chance.
The shrimp? Devoured.
The sauce? Wiped out like it owed me money.
That lonely piece of tripe sitting there? The sole survivor of a delicious battlefield.
The seasoning had that bold, unapologetic “we’re from Gary” energy — not shy, not subtle, just straight to the point. That orange sauce was clinging to the corners of that tray like it didn’t want to let go of greatness. Every bite had flavor that said, “Yeah, we know what we’re doing.”
You ever finish a meal and just sit there staring at the container like you just went through something emotional? That was me. No crumbs left behind. Just memories… and a little sauce streaked across aluminum like abstract art.

I ordered a half pound of jumbo shrimp and they gave me a handful of fries n 6 shrimp. The same size shrimp that they give you with the chicken & shrimp combo- large size shrimp. When I called the man on the phone told me that they gave jumbo which was clearly not correct. They lost a good paying customer.

The food is okay the chicken use to be good. Decent size wings and the fries were good. Now the wings are really small it’s hard to chew. As if they refried the chicken. And the same things with the fries. So it’s not bad it’s just a hit or miss.

I have a love for lamb chops and use to drive far because I couldn’t find any good ones near until I found this place. Everything is so delicious! My man loves the seafood. The Cajun eggs were good as well. We have eaten here 3 times in the last week. Thank you to the young lady and gentleman for their service and patience today because they were super busy. We will definitely be back.

Update The store was very clean my last visit last week I came in and stood in the store for maybe 5 to 8 minutes and noticed a huge difference from my last visit, however I did not order anything. I literally walked in everyone in the store told me they already been helped So I stand at front window no acknowledgment whatsoever. True enough he was seasoning a plate but after he was done he proceeds to walk past me multiple time we made eye contact multiple times and still no acknowledgement at all I really wanted to know how long it would be before he even ask for my order so I waited customers started coming in the building and he would ask them what they ordered start seasoning their order all while I’m still standing to just place an order he did it three times before I just left. I called the store wanting to speak with management and was told he is management however that is not the management I remember from when I use to come frequently he was extremely Plesant and polite that I have tipped him often this other guy they have in store now is completely opposite rude doesn’t acknowledge customers acts is if he don’t want to be there oh and is very RUDE Luckly I was told on phone the other manager was out of town but would be back. I will walk out every time until he returns

Still my favorite restaurant and yes they take EBT but suggest you go in to order. Prices are Not like they used to be getting double portions etc but still so worth it!
