Seated at a filthy, sticky table. Had three different servers while there. The appetizers I had were excellent, but the ramen itself was incredibly bland, almost no flavor at all, and for some reason lacked corn. Charging extra for spice levels is absurd. Appreciate the vegan options, but I’ll go to Red White Boneless instead for a good vegan ramen.

I didn’t actually have ramen, but the poke salmon bowl was very fresh (albeit not super seasoned). The restaurant is in a nice area with a cheap parking structure nearby, as well as a calm ambiance!

Super good shoyu ramen! The broth was delightful and the egg was yummy (and I’m picky). Would definitely come back here!

At Rakkan Ramen in Little Tokyo, the dining experience feels distinct compared to the many tonkotsu-focused ramen shops in Los Angeles. Instead of heavy pork-based broths, Rakkan highlights lighter soy sauce, salt, and miso varieties, which give guests a refreshing yet flavorful option. The broth itself is light in body but still carries a slightly stronger taste, offering a good balance for those who prefer something savory without being overwhelmingly rich. The thin noodles complement the soup well, holding the flavors with every bite, and they are neither too soft nor too firm. Toppings are simple and not overly elaborate, allowing the quality of the soup to shine through. The chashu, rather than being extremely tender, has a firmer and more structured texture, which some diners may find pleasantly different. The restaurant is cozy and compact rather than spacious, with a darker, calm interior that creates an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. It feels like the kind of place where you can take your time and enjoy your meal quietly. In addition, the staff members are attentive and friendly, providing warm and efficient service that enhances the overall dining experience. Altogether, Rakkan offers a refined yet approachable ramen experience that stands out in Los Angeles for its unique broths, thoughtful presentation, and comfortable ambiance.

RAKKAN is a ramen spot that originated in Tokyo and expanded to DTLA We arrived with a bit of a wait for a party of 2, but got seated soon after.
The ambience inside is warm and cozy, perfect for dinner; they also have outdoor seating available. For ramen, I ordered the Pearl (shio/salt base). Though the presentation was nothing to be excited about (lol the egg) the flavor was indeed “clean and refreshing” with its blend of soy sauce. I also ordered an accompanying 4pc aburi salmon sushi to make it a combo and the fish was fresh, smoky, and meshed seamlessly with the rice/mayo/chives.
I’d recommend this spot if you’re looking for a solid ramen choice; do come early though for a reduced wait time.

cozy ramen spot with outdoor seatings. We ordered pork gyoza and fries as appetizers, port gyoza is good and crispy. Then we ordered ruby, spicy ruby and spicy garnet, overall is fine. Spicy miso soup from the spicy ruby is good, ramen noodle is good chewing texture, just didn’t really like the chicken chashu, it’s just a slice of chicken breast, nothing special about it (to me, chashu is grilled style pork with charred favor). Overall is fine for a quick dinner

This place is great if you want a lighter broth ramen. There’s outdoor and indoor seating with a wait-list for you to sign up for. I got the Garnet miso ramen. I’ve had the shio and shit before and loved it. The broth is very flavorful and the cha siu is great and the noodles were soft and chewy.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. They made sure to come by to make sure we were doing ok and also attended to our needs in a timely manner. The place was very lively and popular.
There can be a wait for this place and I’ve often gone to the Torrance location and it is of the same quality and service. The exception is that this place is open fairly late.

Eating at Rakken Ramen is an unforgettable experience for me because of its delicious food, good service, and accessible location. The restaurant offers a good amount of vegan options, including the ramen and gyoza. The broth is so delicious that I had to eat it all. The pork ramen was also delicious, and the portion was big. The hosts were friendly and the food arrived quickly.
The restaurant is close to Litte Tokyo. There are some paid street parking options, and it might take you a while to find one, In summary, l recommend it for vegetarians and lovers of Asian cuisines.
